Changing Display Settings Dynamically
From ThinOS 8.4 release, after you change the display settings, the changes will take effect immediately without a system
restart.
Single mode user scenario
Go to System Setup > Display > General, and do the following:
1. Change resolution from DDC table or User defined display settings.
2. Change rotation setting from User defined display settings.
When the display settings are changed, the modified settings are applied to the active sessions dynamically. But some of the
active sessions disconnect and then reconnect. For example, RDP for Win7 session.
Dual Head user scenario
Go to System Setup > Display > Dual Head and change the settings.
Go to System Setup > Display > General, and do the following:
1. Change resolution from DDC table or User defined display settings.
2. Change rotation setting from User defined display settings.
When the display settings are changed during active sessions, the active sessions do not resize dynamically in the following
situations:
Seamless sessions
For dual head mode, including:
Change from single mode to dual head.
Change from dual head to single mode.
Change display setting in dual head mode.
To apply the settings, disconnect the session and reconnect it.
Vertical Synchronization
Vertical Synchronization or V-Sync enables the ThinOS client to synchronize the frame rate of a video with the monitor refresh
rate to avoid screen tearing. Screen tearing occurs when the graphic processor delivers display frames more than your monitor
can process. As a result, the image appears to be cut in half. Enabling VSync synchronizes the output video of the graphics card
to the refresh rate of the monitor.
Limitation
The ThinOS client desktop background flashes for a second when the RDP session desktop is connected with H.264- AVC444
enabled.
Dell Docking Station WD19
The Wyse 5470 Thin Client supports the Dell Docking Station WD19. The Dell Docking Station WD19 is a device that links all
your electronic devices to your thin client using a USB Type-C cable interface. Connecting the thin client to the docking station
enables you to access all peripherals (mouse, keyboard, stereo speakers, external hard drive, and large-screen displays) without
having to plug each one into the thin client.
ThinOS supports the Wake-on-LAN feature over the Dell Docking Station WD19 to wake up thin clients from sleep mode or the
shutdown state. To use this feature, you must add the INI parameter wakeonusb=yes.
Limitations
USB Type-C and HDMI ports on Dell Docking Station WD19 are mutually exclusive.
Supports one Quad HD display at 30 Hz and two Full HD displays at 60 Hz.
If two displays with resolution greater than 1920 x 1080 are connected simultaneously, only one display works. You must
change the resolutions to 1920 x 1080 or lower to make both displays work.
