Caution: Anytime you work on a fuel system, follow these procedures:
Always have a Class B fire extinguisher readily available.
Work in a well-ventilated area away from open flames and anything that could cause a spark.
Make sure to wear safety glasses and any other safety protection needed while performing fuel system repairs.
Properly relieve the system’s fuel pressure before any repairs are performed. Refer to the OE service manual.
Check fuel system pressure and flow along with the pump electrical circuit. Make any necessary repairs before
replacing the pump.
Disconnect the ground cable from the vehicles battery before performing any operation involving gasoline, gas tanks
or fuel lines.

Fuel Pump Assembly Replacement Instructions
NOTE: The updated assembly you’re installing might not look exactly like the original but will perform the same.
1. Drain fuel from tank.
2. Store removed gas in an approved container.
3. If applicable, remove any skid plates and lower tank.
4. Disconnect fuel lines and electrical connections.
5. Inspect vehicle wiring for possible overheating and repair as necessary.
6. Remove tank from vehicle.
7. Clean the top of the tank to make sure dirt does not fall into tank after pump has been removed.
8. Remove pump assembly lock ring with approved tool.
9. Carefully remove the assembly from the tank.
10. Once assembly has been removed, make sure to clean and flush the inside of the fuel tank.
11. Install new assembly back into clean tank.
12. Reinstall tank lock ring with approved tool.
13. Reconnect fuel lines and electrical connectors.
14. Reinstall tank back into vehicle, fill and check for leaks.
