iessupportsasinglefiberopticlink.Thefiber‐opticinterfacecaneitherbea WDM(DOI302)whichis
mostcommonlyusedoranoptionalduplexfeedwithseparateULand DLfibers(DOI301).BirdalsooffersaWDM
option(DOI380x).TheWDMutilizestheduplexfeedstylecardbutthewa
velengthforthedownlinkaredefinedby
the"x"intheDOI380xpartnumber.NotethattheRemoteUnitwillneedtobeorderedwiththecorrectWDM
uplinkwavelength.RefertothechartfortheWDMwavelengthsoffered.

sFOIcanserveupto4RemoteUnitsonasinglefiberrunwhenusinganopticalsplitterinthefirst
RemoteUnit.WhenutilizingtheDOI302WDMmoduleeachRemoteUnitin theseriesmusthavedifferentoptical
wavelengthsintheuplinkpathtoavoidinterference.

0dBm.Thismeansthatfor0dBattenuationinthedownlinkamaximuminputof‐35dBmcompositepoweris
recommended(whenattenuatorsaresetto0dBm).Ifthedownlinkatte
nuatorissettoahighervaluethemaximum
recommendedinputisadjustedaccordingly.
Theoutputpow
erofthelaseriscalibratedto3000µW.Thiscanbeusedtocheckthelossoverfiberintheremote
becausetheremotereportsthereceivedopticallevels.Thelossmaybedifferentintheuplinkcomparedtothe
downlinkbecauseofdifferentwavelengthsonthelaser.
TheFO

ntainsseveraladjustableattenuatorswhichareusedtocompensateforlossbeforetheFOI(e.g.inthe
ICU)andforlossonthefiberintheuplink.TherearetwosetsofRFportsontheFOIthatcanbeusedtoconnect
signalsfromtwodifferentstripsinthe rack‐moun
tICU,ortwodifferentMFUICUs.

tcanbesetinthedownlinkpath.Thisallowsforbalancingtheinputsignalsfromtwodifferentsignal
