TheFiber‐DASsystemtypicallyconsistsofthreemainsegments:
Gateway — TheGatewayact
sasafirewallensuringinternaltrafficonthesystemremainsinternalandatthesame
timeallowingawebinterfaceformonitoringandsupe rvision.ThegatewayalsohandlesSNMPtraps.
Headend — TheHeadendserv
esastheinterfacewiththeoperator’sbasestation,housingtheunitsrequiredto
transmitandreceivecommunicationsbetweentheoperator’sbasestationandtheremoteunitsoftheFiber‐DAS
system.
Remote Units — theremoteuni
tsarelocatednearthedistributedantennasandhousetheequipmentnecessary
totransmitandreceivecommunicationsbetweentheantennaandtheheadend.
