The HDG-6 is a perfect companion to any
SILVEY chisel chain grinder. The HDG-6 relieves
you of the tedious task of filing your depth gauges.
Not only does the HDG-6 do the job easily, but its
precise grinding ability makes for the smoothest
cutting chains you've ever run. The best part is,
you will grind your depth gauges more often
because it is so easy to operate.
How It Works
A turn of the hand crank moves the chain,
while a cam lever riding on the surface of the
chain raises and lowers the grinding head. The
cam mechanism lifts the head over cutter teeth
but not depth gauges. Depth gauges contact the
grinding wheel and are ground to a preset level.
Presetting the grinding head is a simple proce-
dure done with two thumb screws. Once the
head is set, turning the crank produces perfectly
ground depth gauges. The first time you see the
HDG-6 grind, you'll ask yourself, "Why have I
filed depth gauges for so long?"
An optional attachment is available for
grinding gullets. Although this function
requires manual tilting of the head, it is easier
than removing gullets with a file. All you have
to do is mount the chain in the opposite direc-
tion, set the stop, adjust the head, and you're
ready to cut gullets.
