Boot Dressing
OBENAUF''S LP leather preservative was originally developed for treating
the boots of wildland firefighters. It is made by combining three different
natural oils with bee’s wax and propolis. This combination resists bacteria
and mildew, repels water, and keeps leather soft and flexible. Warming LP
prior to its application makes it easier to apply and warming boots with a
hair dryer after its application helps LP penatrate. Also consider Obenauf's
leather oil, which is good for quick touch-ups between applications of LP.
Obenauf's is approved for use on Gore-Tex footwear.
HUBERD’S is classic logger’s boot grease. Huberd’s will darken light col-
ored leather because it contains pine tar. If your family has a history of
working in the woods, your grandfather probably used this product -
Huberd’s has been making it since 1929.
WESCO BEE SEAL helps keeps leather work boots flexible even at low tem-
perature. It does not contain pine tar and will not darken leather as much as
the product listed above. If dressing older dried out boots, an application
Wesco's Bee Oil leather primer restorer and conditioner will prepare the
boots for an application of Bee Seal.
BEE NATURAL wax oil helps waterproof and preserve leather boots. It con-
tain's pine tar and is a good substitute for those who used to like Logger's
World Boot Grease, which is no longer available. The mink oil contains no
wax and helps keep leather soft and flexible.
SNO-SEAL is an all season leather protectant. Its bee’s wax base waterproofs
and protects leather from rain, snow, salt, and sun. It also lubricates and pro-
tects against drying and deterioration. Sno-Seal dries scent free.
DANNER boot dressing is designed to protect leather and help maintain
water repellency. It also prolongs the beauty and suppleness of fine leather
when used regularly. It applies easily with a clean dry cloth.
