Manual
I=I_[.'I | E.'_"
NOTE:
• Select the speaker size net by the physical size of the speaker
but by the speaker's capacity to reproduce lew frequencies of
100 Hz er less. If you de net know, determine the best setting by
comparing the sound when the setting is set to "Small" and
"Large", keeping the velume low eneugh te prevent damage to
the speaker.
Subwoofer (SW FREQ.) frequency
• Fer the subweefer frequency at the speaker setting screen, set
the bass cressever frequency for playback from the subweefer.
• Select "80 Hz", "120 Hz", "150 Hz" or "180 Hz" (-6 dB for
each). Bass sound below these frequencies is played from the
subweofer.
(This is set to "150 Hz" by factery default.)
NOTE:
• Select "Large" or "Small" not according to the actual size of the
speaker but according to the speaker's capacity fer playing low
frequency (approximately 100 Hz and below) signals. If yeu do
net know, try comparing the sound at beth settings (setting the
volume to a level low eneugh so as not to damage the speakers)
to determine the preper setting.
Parameters
Large ...... Select this when using speakers that can fully reproduce
lew sounds ef belew 100 Hz.
Small ...... Select this when using speakers that do not provide
sufficient volume fer playing low frequencies ef 100 Hz
and less. When this setting is made, frequencies below
the frequency set at the subweefer frequency setting
are assigned te the subwoofer.
Yes/Ne .... Select "Yes" when a subwoefer is installed, "No" when
a subweofer is not installed.
•_ If the subweofer has sufficient low frequency playback capacity,
good sound can be achieved even when "Small" is set for the
frent, speakers.
•_ For the majerity of speaker system configuratiens, using the
SMALL setting for main speakers and Subwoefer On with a
connected subwoefer will yield the best results.
Assignment of low frequencies
• In the Dolby Digital, Delby Pro Legic II, DTS, and virtual surreund
modes, the low frequency signals for channels whese speaker
settings are set te "Small" are assigned to the subweefer. The
lew frequencies ef channels set te "Large" are played frem
those channels.
(if set to "120 Hz", channels set to "Small" play seunds of 120
Hz and greater; while bass frequencies ef under 120 Hz are
played from the subweofer.)
• In surreund modes ether than the ones listed abeve, low
frequencies below the frequency set at the subweefer frequency
setting are played from the subwoofer regardless ef whether the
speakers are set to "Large" or "Small".
• Set the subweefer frequency accerding te the low frequency
playback abilities of your speakers and subweofer.
Subwoofer mode
• The subwoefer mode setting is only valid when "LARGE" is set
for the frent speakers and "YES" is set for the subwoefer in the
"SPEAKER CONFIGURATION" settings.
• When the "LFE+MAIN" playback mode is selected, the low
frequency signal range ef channels set to "LARGE" are preduced
simultaneeusly frem those channels and the subweefer channel.
In this playback mode, the low frequency range expand mere
uniformly through the room, but depending on the size and shape
of the room, interference may result in a decrease ef the actual
volume of the lew frequency range.
• Selectien of the "LFE" play mode will play the lew frequency
signal range of the channel selected with "LARGE" from that
channel only. Therefere, the lew frequency signal range that are
played from the subweofer channel are enly the low frequency
signal range of LFE (only during Dolby Digital or DTS signal
playback) and the channel specified as "SMALL" in the setup
menu,
• Select the play mode that provides bass reproduction with body.
• When the subwoefer is set to "YES", bass sound is eutput from
the subweofer regardless ef the subweofer mode setting in
surround modes ether than Delby/DTS.
