5.1-channel + 2.1-channel connection
If front speakers for 2-channel playback are connected to the SURR. BACK/AMP ASSIGN terminals, both
speakers for multichannel playback and for 2-channel playback can be used, by switching.
In this case, set “Set up “Amp Assign”” (vpage53) to “2CH”.

• For switching multichannel playback and 2-channel playback, see “Selecting a listening mode (Surround
mode)” (vpage45).
• If “2ch Direct/Stereo” – “Setting” (vpage 83) is set to “Custom”, settings for 2-channel playback
speakers can be made.

Here we describe how to set up speakers other than 5.1-channel speakers.
For the method of setting up 5.1-channel speakers, see “Simple version”, “Set up speakers
(Audyssey

Auto Setup)” (vpage6).
First install and connect the speakers to this unit.
Before Auto Setup measurement, the settings shown below can be made.
• Changing the amplifier assignment (Amp Assign)
The signal output from the SURR.BACK/AMP ASSIGN speaker terminal of this unit can be switched to
match your speaker environment (vpage53 “Set up “Amp Assign””).
• Setting the channels to be used (Channel Select)
If channels that are not to be used are set in advance, measurement for the set channels is skipped, and
measuring time can be reduced (vpage53 “Set up “Channel Select””).
