Features Cautions on handling • Before turning the power on Check once again that all connections are correct and that there are no problems with the connection cables. iPod dock • Power is supplied to some of the circuitry even when the unit is set to the standby mode. When the unit will not be used for long periods of time, the power cord should be removed from the power outlet. Equipped with an iPod dock, which enables direct connecting and sound output and control of iPod.

Connections for all compatible audio signal formats are described in this owner’s manual. Please select the type of connections corresponding to the equipment you are connecting. NOTE This connection is for playback of audio of this unit, using a 2-channel audio device. Amplifier AUDIO AUDIO IN L R Connecting to a digital audio device This connection is for recording audio from this unit, using an audio device with coaxial digital audio input connectors.
Connecting an iPod Opening the iPod dock Press the center of the iPod dock, where it says “PUSH OPEN” to open the dock, and then pull it out. Pull the iPod dock completely out until it locks into place before using it. 1 Turn the power on (vpage 9). 2 Press PUSH OPEN to open the iPod DOCK. 3 Connect an iPod to the connector of the iPod DOCK. Pull the dock out until it clicks into the locked position. Preparations • You can enjoy music stored on an iPod.
Connecting an iPod Supported iPod models Remove the iPod, and then press the panel while pressing and holding the CLOSE button. • iPod classic As shown in the illustration below, insert a flathead screwdriver into the hole in the dock adapter and then use the driver to remove the adapter. • iPhone NOTE • When removing the dock adapter, use a hand to hold the iPod dock in place. • Do not move the iPod dock left, right, up or down when it is pulled out.

Turning the power on Before using the remote control (vpage 23,“Installing the battery”). Playing CD POWER 5 SOURCE MASTER KEY nnAdjusting the playback tempo 1 Press PITCH ON/OFF. 2 Press PITCH ADJUST (+/−). The LED indicator lights. +: Faster −: Slower Up to ±16% can be adjusted by ±0.1%. 0-9 1/3 • When you press PITCH ADJUST(+) and (-) at the same time, the percentage is reset to zero and the playback tempo returns to the original speed. Keeping the original key in pitch-adjusted playback Press MASTER KEY to turn on the indicator.

Playback of MP3 and WAV files Playback starts. DISPLAY MENU Turn the selector knob while pressing to select the folder (or file), and then press the selector knob. Files can also be selected by specifying the file number using 0 – 9 or 8, 9 on the remote control unit. • The file numbers are set automatically when the disc is loaded. 1/3 Selector knob Playing MP3 and WAV files • 8, 9 and ENTER on the remote control can be used to select the file instead of the selector knob on the main unit.
Operations enabled during playback Selecting a track Playing repeatedly (Repeat playback) During playback, turn the selector knob. Press REPEAT to turn on the “REPEAT” indicator. • A track can also be selected by pressing the 8 and 9 on the remote control unit. (When 8 is pressed once the playback will return to the beginning of the current track.) 6 7 MENU 1/3 Selector knob During playback, press 6 or 7. Pausing playback Press 1/3 during playback. Stopping playback Press 2 during playback.
Operations enabled during playback MENU CUE 1/3 Selector knob During playback, the next track can be selected by the selector knob to set the selected track into standby. When the current track is finished, the reserved track automatically starts. To activate this function, make the setting below. nnSetting a cue point from where you want to start playback 1 Atnext,a position press 1/3 to set the player in the pause mode. 2 Press 6 or 7 to fine-tune the position. 3 Press CUE. The CUE indicator lights.

Two standby positions are available; the next track or the cue point. To use the playback standby function, make the following setting beforehand to select the standby position. Playback iPod® iPod DOCK SOURCE DISPLAY 2(u), 4(o) 6(p), 8(i) This application changes the playback speed for music files within iPhone/iPod touch. It is also possible to change the playback speed without changing the musical interval.
Additional functions on the main unit SOURCE Disabling the remote control unit operation The player can disable remote command reception, to avoid unintended operations by other remote commands when operating this player together with several DENON products. Remote control unit NOTE Before using the remote control unit A lithium battery comes installed in the remote control unit. Before use, pull out the insulation sheet. q Slide out the battery holder from the remote control by pushing into the hole in the holder with a ball-point pen, etc. w Pull out the old lithium battery from the battery case and insert a new one. Place the battery so that the + (positive) side faces upward. e Replace the battery case in its original position.

Playable media When there are multiple folders containing MP3 or WAV files, the playback order of folders is automatically set when this unit reads the media. The files in each folder are played back in the order in which the files were recorded on the media, from the oldest date and time. About Discs and Files Files, such as MP3/WAV etc., recorded on CD-R/-RW are divided into large segments (folders) and small segments (files).
Cautions on using media Cleaning discs • Set the disc in the tray label side up. • Make sure the disc tray is fully open when inserting the disc. • Place the disc horizontally in the tray, aligned with the tray guide. • Do not get fingerprints, oil or dirt on discs. • Take special care not to scratch discs when removing them from their cases. • Do not bend or heat discs. • Do not enlarge the hole in the center. • Do not write on the labeled (printed) surface with ball-point pens, pencils, etc.
Explanation of terms D Dynamic range The difference between the maximum, undistorted sound level and the minimum sound level that is discernible above the noise emitted by the device. L Linear PCM This is an uncompressed PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) signal. This is the same system as the CD audio.
