5.3.2 Specifying Parameters
Bluetooth
®
device address
Remote devices return these addresses, uniquely assigned to each Bluetooth
®
device by the Bluetooth
®
SIG, during device detection.
Bluetooth
®
device name
Bluetooth
®
devices can distinguish themselves using user-friendly names--Robert or Sandra, for example.
Bluetooth
®
passkey (Bluetooth
®
PIN)
Pairs of Bluetooth
®
devices use these encryption keys for mutual authentication and for establishing
secure links between themselves.
Security Modes
This BHT supports the following three security modes.
(1) No security: There is no security authentication.
(2) Service level security: There is security authentication.
(3) Link level security: There is security authentication using point-to-point encryption keys.
Specifying No security sometimes prevents connecting to remote devices using service or link level
security--unless both ends use the same Bluetooth
®
passkey.
Service or link level security requires that both ends use the same Bluetooth
®
passkey.
