In order to measure a speaker’s frequency-response, the speaker should be placed in a location
that provides the best measurement results. The speaker and microphone should be located as
far as possible from reflecting surfaces, in order to maximize the duration of the signal that is
received prior to the first reflection. This may be best achieved by placing the speaker equi-
distant from side walls and the rear wall and by using a speaker stand that locates the vertical
mid-point of the woofer and tweeter half way between the floor and the ceiling (Assuming the
speaker has two drivers, a tweeter and a woofer). It is also necessary to move objects that may
cause reflections, such as furniture, away from the measurement area.
