La Série 4 offre les fonctions suivantes : - Numérotation décimale et multifréquences. - Sonnerie électronique pour signaler les appels. - Rappel du dernier numéro composé (23 chiffres en décimal et en DTMF). - Visualisation des polarités.

The Series 4 test set provides : - DTMF (tone) and rotary (pulse) dialing. - Electronic ringer to indicate incoming calls. - Last number redial - 23 digits - T/P. - Line polarity indication. - Line monitor feature. - Register recall/Hook flash. - Mute feature for noisy locations.

ON/OFF/MON SWITCH Located on the left side above the keypad, this 3 positions switch is used to select the mode of operation. -ON (Talk) This position connects the Series 4 to the line for network signaling, conversation, and testing.

C’est dans cette position que la sonnerie d’appel fonctionne. - DC : en position DC, la numérotation est émise en mode décimal. - FV : en position FV, la numérotation est émise en mode fréquences vocales. The OFF position creates an on hook condition, with the speech and test circuits isolated from the line. -MON (Monitor) This position connects the Series 4 to the line through a high impedance circuit allowing monitoring of the line without disturbing conversations, data transmission, or network signaling.

(Sur le SERIE 4 AMPLI, cette touche est remplacée par la touche d’écoute amplifiée). - BIS (rappel du dernier numéro) : l’appui sur cette touche permet de recomposer le dernier numéro entré sur le clavier (voir paragraphe fonctionnement). R (flashing - rappel d’enregistreur) : touche de flashing.

Please see Operation section for details - (This key is replaced by a speaker key on the SERIES 4 AMPLI). - R (register recall/hook flash) : When pressed, the test set produces a timed line break (hook flash) of 270 milliseconds. This function is typically used for register recall.

S’assurer que la ligne n’est pas utilisée. 4. Sélectionner le mode de numérotation souhaitée. 5. Mettre le combiné dans la position “marche” 6. Après avoir entendu la tonalité, procéder à la numérotation. Après avoir composé un numéro et éventuellement conversé, raccrocher le combiné (position arrêt).

Confirm line is not in use. Select PULSE OR TONE dialing. Select “ON” mode and confirm dial tone is received. 6. Proceed with dialing, conversation, line “testing”, etc. LAST NUMBER REDIAL (BIS key) Redialing of the last number dialed may be done in TONE or PULSE modes. Up to 23 digits may be recalled.
Notice serie 4 01-05 22/12/05 16:32 Page 17 VERIFICATION DES POLARITES TOUCHE D’ECOUTE AMPLIFIEE Les combinés d’essai Série 4 fonctionnent quelle que soit la polarité du branchement. Toutefois, si l’on souhaite vérifier la polarité, raccorder le cordon du combiné, fil rouge sur +, fil noir sur - de la ligne à tester, mettre l’interrupteur sur la position “marche”. Pour le SERIE 4 : appuyer sur la touche “POL”.
Notice serie 4 01-05 22/12/05 16:32 Page 18 POLARITY CHECK Use the following procedure to check line polarity. Connect the black test lead to ring (negative) and the red lead to tip (positive). Switch to “ON” to access the network. For SERIES 4 model : press the “POL” key on the keypad. For SERIES 4 AMPLI model : there is no polarity key because the polarity indicator LEDs operate continuously, without requiring a key operation.

The Serie 4 is equipped with a standard 6 positions modular jack for easy connection of a variety of cordsets. This jack is located under the cover which secures the belt clip.
