1. Determine the route your vertical venting
willtake.Ifceilingjoists,roofraftersorother
framing will obstruct the venting system,
consideranoffset(seeFigure19)toavoidcut-
tingloadbearingmembers.Note:Payspecial
attentiontotheseinstallationinstructionsfor
requiredclearances(airspace)tocombustibles
whenpassingthroughceilings,walls,roofs,
enclosures,atticrafters,etc.Donotpackair
spaceswithinsulation.Alsonotemaximum
vertical rise of the venting system and any
maximumhorizontaloffsetlimitations.
2. Setthereplaceindesiredlocation.Dropa
plumblinedownfromtheceilingtotheposi-
tionofthereplaceexitue.Markthecenter
pointwheretheventwillpenetratetheceiling.
Drillasmalllocatingholeatthispoint.
Dropaplumblinefromtheinsideoftheroof
tothelocatingholeintheceiling.Markthe
centerpointwheretheventwillpenetratethe

alivingspace,installrestopbelowtheframed
hole.Therestopshouldbeinstalledwithno
lessthanthreenailsperside(seeFigure20).
2. Assemble the desired lengths of pipe and
elbowsnecessarytoreachfromthereplace
ueupthroughtherestop.Besureallpipe
andelbowconnectionsarefullytwist-locked
(seeFigure8,page8).
3. Cutaholeintheroofusingthelocatinghole
asa centerpoint. (Coveranyexposed open
ventpipes beforecuttinghole inroof.)The

depending on the pitch of the roof. There
mustbea1"clearancefromtheventpipeto
combustiblematerials.Frametheopeningas

4. Connect a section of pipe and extend up
throughthehole.
Note:Ifanoffsetisneededtoavoidobstruc-
tions,youmustsupporttheventpipeevery3
feet.Usewallstrapsforthispurpose(seeFig-
ure19).Wheneverpossible,use45°elbows
insteadof90°elbows.The45°elbowoffers
lessrestriction tothe owof theuegases
andintakeair.
