SUITABLE AREAS
Excellent for all areas of your home including kitchen, bathrooms, entryways, rec room and also light
commercial installations such as shops, salons, professional and small business entryways and break
rooms.
SUITABLE SURFACES
• Smooth-surface, well-bonded resilient floors
• Dry, clean, well-cured concrete--on or above grade
• Painted floors where floor is not in contact with the earth and paint is firmly bonded.
• Wood floors with sanded plywood underlayment. Make sure that the plywood has been sealed with a
latex floor primer. Do not use paint primers.
UNSUITABLE SURFACES
• Particleboard, chipboard or flakeboard
• Concrete surfaces below grade where moisture may be a problem
• Embossed or no-wax resilient floors or cushioned floors
• Tiles are not recommended to lay over underfloor heating.
PREPARING THE SUBFLOOR
CONCRETE FLOORS
Concrete must be smooth, clean, flat, and free of moisture. Remove all dirt, grease, paint or old tile
adhesive. Do not damp mop as moisture will stay in concrete for many weeks. Sweep and vacuum floor
thoroughly. Fill all cracks and holes with a suitable latex crack filler per the manufacturer's instructions.
Apply latex floor primer (per manufacturer’s instructions). Never install self-stick vinyl tiles over unsealed
concrete regardless of grade level. Failure to use latex floor primer over unsealed concrete voids your
warranty.
WOOD FLOORS
Securely nail all loose boards. Scrape, plane or fill uneven boards in preparation for plywood
underlayment. Cover subfloor with flooring grade plywood, nailing on 6" centers with ringed type 1-1/2"
nails. Countersink nail heads slightly and fill holes and cracks with latex crack filler. Sweep and vacuum
floor thoroughly, and apply latex floor primer (per manufacturer's instructions).
OLD FLOOR COVERINGS
You may apply tile directly over well-bonded, smooth surface resilient floors after removing all wax or
other coatings. Tiles should not be installed over cushioned floor materials or over embossed tile unless
the embossing has been filled in with a suitable latex embossing leveler. Also, tiles should not be
installed over solid no-wax vinyl flooring unless the finish has been thoroughly roughened.
WARNING:
NEVER SAND EXISTING RESILIENT FLOOR, AS THE
DUST MAY CONTAIN HARMFUL ASBESTOS FIBERS.
