Installation Instructions
3). Lay a row of loose tile (do not remove the release paper) along the chalk lines
starting at the center and working toward the wall.
4). If the distance between the wall and edge of the last full tile is less than half a tile,
strike a new chalk line 6" from the previous chalk line to establish your starting point
(see Illustration #2). This will eliminate small cuts around the edges and also leave a
uniform border.
Important: for grouted installations, make sure you allow for the thickness of the grout
line between each tile.
5). Remove release paper from the back of each tile as you install it.
WARNING: The release paper has a slippery surface. To avoid accidents, place
release paper in a suitable receptacle as it is removed. Do not walk or stand on
pieces of release paper or loose tile.
Start placing the tile at the center point, following the chalk lines. Do not slide tile into
place as the tile will bond instantly. Set it in place at a slight angle to the floor. For
ungrouted installations, simply butt each tile squarely up against each adjoining tile
and press firmly. For grouted installations, use at least 2 spacers between the edges
of each tile in order to maintain a uniform joint width. Then lay each adjoining tile
gently against the spacers. Check your installation often and make any necessary
adjustments to ensure that your grout lines remain straight and a uniform thickness.
6). Install tile over one quarter of the floor at a time, working out from the center in a
pyramid (see Illustration #3). Do not install cut tile around the edges of the room until
the entire main floor has been covered.
7). To fit tile around obstacles, make a pattern of the area on paper, trace the pattern
onto the tile and cut. Leave the release paper on the tile and cut with the paper side up
using scissors or a straight edge and a knife.
