16.5 INSTALLATION OF THE CYLINDER LINER

7. Install a dial indicator.

8. Measure the distance from the top of the liner ﬂange to the top of the block. A llowable

liner protrusion is 0.18-0.27 mm (0.007-0.010 in).

[a] If the liner protrusion exceeds the maximum allowable, remove the piston and

connecting rod assembly (if installed) and then remove the liner to check for debris

under the liner ﬂange.

[b] If the liner protrusion is below the m inimum speciﬁcation, contact Detroit Diesel

Customer Support Center (313-592-5800).
