30.2 REMOVAL OF COOLANT THERMOSTAT AND SEAL
Remove as follows:
HOT COOLANT
To avoid scalding from the expulsion of h ot coolant, never
remove the cooling system pressure cap while the engine
is at operating temperature. Wear ad equate protective
clothing (face shield, rubber gloves, apron, an d boots).
Remove the cap slowly to relieve pressure.
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the plug on the cylinder block below the oil coolant module to drain the
remaining coolant.
3. Loosen hose clamp at the thermostat.
4. Remove the four thermostat housing-to-oil cooler module attaching bolts.
5. Remove the thermostat housing assembly from the oil coolant module and hose.
6. Remove the thermostat housing seal.
