3. Dispose of used oil and
lters in an environmentall y
responsible manner, according
to federal (EPA) and/or state
recommendations.
4. Clean the lter gasket-contact
surface of the adaptor head with a
clean, lint-free cloth.
5. Fill the new lters with clean
lubricating oil and lightly coat the
lter gaskets with the same oil.
6. Start the new lters on the adaptor
head and tighten by hand until
the gaskets touch th e mounting
adaptor head. Tighten lters an
additional two-thirds turn by
hand, or as indicated on the
lter.
NOTICE:
Do not overtighten lters.
Overtightening may crack or
distort the lter adaptor.
7. Add oil as r equired to bring the
level to the “Full” mark on the
dipstick.

Diesel engine exhaust and some
of its constituents are known to
the State of California to cause
cancer, birth defects, and other
reproductive harm.
Always start and operate an
engine in a well ventilated
area.
If operating an engine in
an enclosed area, vent the
exhaust to the outside.
Do not modify or tamper
with the exhaust sys tem or
emission co ntr ol system.
8. Start and run the engine for
a short period and check for
leaks. After any leaks h ave been
corrected, stop the engine long
enough for oil from various parts
of the engine to drain back to
the crank case (approximately 20
minutes). Add oil as required to
bring the level to the “Full” mark
on the dipstick.
