Mixture)
Recycled Antifreeze Antifreeze
or coolant recycled by reverse
osmosis, distillation, and ion
exchange, properly re-inhibited
to meet TMC RP-329 Type A or
TMC RP-330 Type A requirements,
has been demonstrated to provide
service equivalent to virgin antifreeze.
Recycled antifreeze or coolants of
these types are preferred. Other
recycled coolants, especially coolants
recycled through ltration processes,
are not recom mended.
Ethylene Glycol/Water +
OAT Inhibitor or Propylene
Glyco l/Water + OAT In hibitor
Ethylene glycol an d propylene glycol
are also available with an OAT (
Organic A cid Technology) c orrosion
package. These coolants require less
maintenance over the useful life of the
engine. OAT coolants, maintained as
detailed in the Maintenance section
of this guide, may be op erated up to
4 years, 6 00,00 0 miles (960,000 km),
or 10,000 operating hours, whichever
comes rst. Refer to section Coolant
Maintenance. The cooling system
should either be equipped with a
“blank” coolant lter, or the coolant
lter and piping may be omitted from
the system.
OAT fully form ulated antifreezes
are available as concentrated and
pre-mixed. Concentrated antifreezes
should be mixed 50% (50% antifreeze,
50% water).
OAT coolants should not be mixed
with conventional coolants. If they
are mixed, no damage will result, but
the long-life advantages of the OAT
coolant will be lost. In this event,
the coolant should be maintained as a
fully formulated IEG coolant, not as
an OAT (Organic Acid Technology)
coolant.
