ACI318‐14,Chapter17andACI318‐11AppendixD(andbyreferencetothe2015IBCand2012IBC,respectively)requiresthatadhesive
anchorsforconcretebeinstalledusingaspecificdrillingmethod.Thisisbecausethedrillingmethodusedtocreateaholeinconcrete
andthesubsequentmanufacturerrecommendedholecleaningprocedurefortheadhesivesystemhasasignificant effectonthebond
strengthoftheinstalledadhesiveanchors.
Up until now, DEWALTpublished bond strengths for AC100+ Gold adhesive anchors that are based on drilling into concrete using a
hammer‐drillwithacarbidedrillbit
followe dbyatraditionalholecleaningprocess(e.g.blowingtheholeclean,brushingthehole,blowing
theholecleanagain). Fortunately,additionalholedrillingandcleaningoptionsarenowavailableforendusersfromDEWALTduetothe
increasedattentionbeinggiventodustcontrolsolutionsonjobsitesinconstruction.

The DustX+ systemallows users to drill holes in concrete and clean the holes during the drilling process at the same time (no extra
cleaningstepsarenecessarywiththissystem).Thehollowdrillbitsareattachedtoaself‐cleaningHEPAvacuumwhichprovidethedust
collectionduringdrilling.DEWALThasconductedextensivesupplementallaboratorytestingonAC100+Goldadhesiveanchorsinstalled
inholesdrilledandcle anedusingtheDustX+systemindryconcrete.
Thetablebelowshowstheresultsofthetestingadhesiveanchorsystemcrossedwiththeinstallationandcleaningmethodalongwith
thecorrespondingreductionfactorderived
fromtestingthatshouldbeappliedtothebondstrengthwhencalculatingthebondstrength
capacityforthegivenadhesiveanchorandrelevantconditions.
