TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Tool will not start. The extension cord and/or plug is defective. Have the extension cord and/or plug checked by a qualified
electrician and replaced if necessary.
Internal componets too hot. Allow tool to cool down.
Brushes worn out. Have brushes replaced by an authorized D
e
WALT service center.
Reduced Power The extension cord is too long and/or its gauge
is inadequate.
Use an extension cord of an approved length and/or of
adequate gauge.
The speed dial is set to a lower setting. Rotate the speed dial to a higher setting suitable for
the application.
The voltage provided by the electric supply
is inadequate.
Connect the hammer to an adequate electric supply.
The bit does not rotate. The mode selector dial is not correctly engaged,
or is set to “Hammering Only” or is set to
position .
Rotate the mode selector dial to "Rotary Hammering". Refer to
Operation Modes.
The bit cannot be released. The chuck is not pulled back fully. Pull the chuck back as far as it will go and remove the bit. Refer
to Inserting and Removing SDS MAX Bits.
The yellow or red service indicator
lights are on or flashing.
The carbon brushes are nearly worn or the time
for service has been reached.
Have tool service performed by an authorized D
