Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Ensure the switch is in the off position before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
• Bits, sockets and tools get hot during operation. Wear gloves when touching them. • Do not operate this tool for long periods of time. Vibration caused by tool action may be harmful to your hands and arms. Use gloves to provide extra cushion and limit exposure by taking frequent rest periods. WARNING: We recommend the use of a residual current device with a residual current rating of 30mA or less.
• Do not store or use the tool and battery pack in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed 40˚C (105°F) (such as outside sheds or metal buildings in summer). DANGER: Electrocution hazard. Never attempt to open the battery pack for any reason. If battery pack case is cracked or damaged, do not insert into charger. Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not use a battery pack or charger that has received a sharp blow, been dropped, run over or damaged in any way (i.e.
charger cavities. Always unplug the charger from the power supply when there is no battery pack in the cavity. Unplug charger before attempting to clean. • DO NOT attempt to charge the battery pack with any chargers other than the ones in this manual. The charger and battery pack are specifically designed to work together. • These chargers are not intended for any uses other than charging DEWALT rechargeable batteries. Any other uses may result in risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution.
Chargers • The charger is designed to operate on standard 230V household electrical power. Do not attempt to use it on any other voltage. This does not apply to the vehicular charger. • We recommend the use of a residual current device with a rated residual current of 30 mA or less. Your tool uses a DEWALT 7.2, 9.6, 12, 14.4, 18 Volt charger. Be sure to read all safety instructions before using your charger. Consult the chart at the end of this manual for compatibility of chargers and battery packs.
HOT/COLD PACK DELAY Some chargers have a Hot/Cold Pack Delay feature: when the charger detects a battery that is hot, it automatically starts a Hot Pack Delay, suspending charging until the battery has cooled. After the battery has cooled, the charger automatically switches to the Pack Charging mode. This feature ensures maximum battery life. The red light flashes long, then short while in the Hot Pack Delay mode. PROBLEM POWER LINE Some chargers have a Problem Power Line indicator.

Installing and Removing the Battery Pack (fig. 3) FIG. 3 NOTE: Make sure your battery pack is fully To install the battery pack into the tool handle, align the base of the tool with the notch inside the tool’s handle (Fig. 3) and slide the battery pack firmly into the handle until you hear the lock snap into place. To remove the battery pack from the tool, press the release buttons (H) and firmly pull the battery pack out of the tool handle.
• Fastening Time: Longer fastening time results in increased fastening torque. Using a longer fastening time than recommended could cause the fasteners to be overstressed, stripped or damaged. CAUTION: Use only impact sockets. Non-impact sockets may break and cause a hazardous condition. Inspect socket prior to use to ensure that it contains no cracks. To remove a socket, depress the detent pin through the hole and pull the socket off.
