Positioning the Shear Head (fi g. 6)
To facilitate safe cutting at any angle, the shear head
can be rotated.
1. Loosen the cap screws (i).
2. Set the shear head (c) to the desired angle.
3. Tighten the cap screws (i).

WARNING: Clamp the workpiece
whenever possible.
Proper Hand Position (fi g. 10)

proper hand position as shown.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, ALWAYS hold
securely in anticipation of a sudden
reaction.
Proper hand position requires one hand on the main
handle (q), with the other hand on the top of body.
Switching On and Off (fi g. 7)
1. Press the lock-off slider (b) to the left to unlock
the tool.
2. To run the tool, press the variable speed switch
(a). The pressure exerted on the variable speed
switch determines the tool speed.
3. To stop the tool, release the switch.
4. Press the lock-off slider (b) to the right to lock
the tool in the off position.
WARNING: Always lock the tool in the
off position before leaving it unattended.
Operating the Tool (fi g. 8, 9)
1. Line up one edge of the middle cutter blade
with the cutting line on the workpiece.
2. Switch the tool on.
3. Slowly advance the cutter blade into the
workpiece.
WARNING:
Always wear gloves when working
with sheet metal.
Hold the tool as shown in fig. 8;
holding the tool as shown in fig. 9 is to
be avoided.
Do not use the shear with any kind of
accessory or attachment! Such usage
might be hazardous.
MAINTENANCE
Your DEWALT power tool has been designed to
operate over a long period of time with a minimum
of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation
depends upon proper tool care and regular cleaning.

An accidental start-up can cause injury.
The charger is not serviceable. There are no
serviceable parts inside the charger.
Lubrication
Your power tool requires no additional lubrication.
Cleaning
WARNING: Blow dirt and dust out of
the main housing with dry air as often as
dirt is seen collecting in and around the
air vents. Wear approved eye protection
and approved dust mask when
performing this procedure.
WARNING: Never use solvents or
other harsh chemicals for cleaning the
non-metallic parts of the tool. These
chemicals may weaken the materials
used in these parts. Use a cloth
dampened only with water and mild
soap. Never let any liquid get inside the
tool; never immerse any part of the tool
into a liquid.
