7. Never operate mower without the proper trail shield, discharge cover, grass catcher, blade control or other safety protective devices in place and working. Children 1. Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are often attracted to the mower and the mowing activity. They do not understand the dangers. Never assume that children will remain where you last saw them. 2. Keep bystanders, children and pets inside while the mower is in operation under watchful care of a responsible adult other than the operator. Stop mower if anyone enters the area. 3.
Service 1. Keep the mower in good working order. Replace worn or damaged parts. 2. To avoid serious injury or death, do not modify engine in any way. Tampering with the governor setting can lead to a runaway engine and cause it to operate at unsafe speeds. Never tamper with factory setting of engine governor. Do not change the engine governor settings or over-speed the engine. The governor controls the maximum safe operating speed of the engine. 3. Mower blades are sharp.

Ignition Switch Blade Control WARNING! Never leave a running machine unattended. Always disengage blades, stop engine and remove key to prevent unintended starting. Run Position Stop Position Located on the right-hand handle, the blade control is used to engage the mowing deck. To operate, press and hold the lever against the handlebar grip. To stop the blades, release the blade control. WARNING! Never attempt to start the engine with the blade control engaged.
LCD Service Minder and Hour Meter Change Oil (Electric Start Models Only) The LCD will display the letters “CHG”, followed by the letters “OIL”, followed by the letters “SOON”, then finally followed by the meter’s accumulated time. “CHG/OIL/SOON/TIME” will alternate on the display for seven minutes after the meter reaches 50 hours. This oil service minder interval will occur every 50 hours for the following two hours.
5 Operation Gas and Oil Recoil Start The fuel tank has a capacity of two gallons. Remove the fuel cap by turning it counter-clockwise. Use only clean, fresh (no more than 30 days old), unleaded gasoline. Fill the tank no higher than four inches below the top of the filler neck to allow space for fuel expansion. Refer to the Set-Up and Assembly section of this manual for gasoline and oil fill-up instructions. WARNING! Use extreme care when handling gasoline.
Engaging the Drive WARNING! Avoid sudden starts, excessive speed and sudden stops. 1. Start the engine as instructed earlier in this section and move the throttle/choke control into the FAST (rabbit) position. 2. To travel FORWARD: a. b. Place the gear shift lever in any of the four Forward ground speeds. Select a speed appropriate for the conditions and a pace you’re comfortable with. Slowly squeeze the drive control against the left handle grip and the mower will move.
Mowing Installing / Removing Mulch Baffle WARNING! Before installing or removing the mulch plug, disengage blades, stop the engine and remove key (if equipped) to prevent unintended starting. The following information will be helpful when operating your mower. WARNING! Plan your mowing pattern to avoid discharge of materials toward roads, sidewalks, bystanders and the like.
6 Maintenance & Adjustments Maintenance Schedule Each use or every 5-10 Hrs.
Spark Plug Smart Jet The spark plug should be cleaned and the gap reset every 25 hours or once a season. Refer to the Engine Operator’s Manual for correct plug type and gap specifications. Your mower’s deck is equipped with a water port on its surface as part of its deck wash system. Fuel Filter The fuel filter cannot be cleaned and should be replaced every 100 operating hours; more often if run with old gasoline.
Lubrication Blade Timing Belt WARNING! Before lubricating, repairing, or inspecting, always disengage PTO, set parking brake, stop engine and remove key (if equipped) to prevent unintended starting. The cutting deck spindles are driven by a blade timing (cogged) belt, assuring that the deck blades are always perpendicular to each other. At least once a season, or after striking any foreign object, check the timing belt as follows: 1.
2. The top of each spindle pulley is marked with an arrow. See Figure 6-4. The arrows should be perpendicular (at a 90˚ angle) to each other. Adjustments WARNING! Shut the engine OFF and remove the ignition key (if equipped) before making adjustments. Handle Height The upper handle is secured to two support bars that can be adjusted to raise or lower the handle height. Adjust if necessary as follows: 1.
Service Cutting Deck Removal WARNING! Before performing any maintenance or repairs, disengage blades, stop engine and remove key (if equipped) to prevent unintended starting. 2. Place the deck height lever in its highest position. 3. Position wood blocks at various places under the deck’s edge. These will temporarily support the deck as it is removed. 4. Use the deck height lever to lower the deck, so that it rests on the wood blocks. 5.
8. Repeat the Step 7 on the mower’s right side. 9. Carefully remove the front deck supports from the deck lift arms. See Figure 7-3. 10. Carefully unhook the mower’s lift assembly from the rear deck supports. 11. Use the deck height lever to raise the lift assembly to its highest position. 12. Remove the wooden blocks from under the deck and gently slide the cutting deck toward the rear of the machine. 13.
5. Test the blade’s balance using a blade balancer. Grind metal from the heavy side until it balances evenly. Changing the Deck Engagement Belt Changing the Deck Timing Belt WARNING! Shut the engine OFF and remove key (if equipped) before removing the cutting blade(s) for sharpening or replacement. Protect your hands by using heavy gloves when grasping blades and pulleys. Several components must be removed and special tools used in order to change the mower deck’s timing belt. See your authorized service dealer to have the deck’s timing belt replaced.
8 Troubleshooting Problem Engine fails to start Remedy 1. Place throttle/choke control in CHOKE position. 2. Fuel tank empty, or stale fuel. 2. Interruptor de encendido Control de las cuchillas ¡ADVERTENCIA! Nunca deje la máquina en funcionamiento sin vigilancia. Siempre desenganche las cuchillas, apague el motor y retire la llave, para evitar el encendido accidental del motor. El interruptor de tres posiciones se usa para encender y apagar el motor de los modelos con arranque eléctrico. Vea Figura 4-2. Ubicado en la manija derecha, el control de las cuchillas se usa para enganchar la plataforma de corte.
Servicio LCD Minder y Cronómetro (Modelos de Arranque Eléctrico Sólo) Cambio De Aceite La pantalla mostrará las letras “CHG”, seguido de las letras “OIL”, seguido de las letras “pronto”, y finalmente seguido por el tiempo acumulado del metro. “CHG / OIL / PRONTO / TIME” se alternará en la pantalla durante 7 minutos después de que el metro llegue a 50 horas para las dos horas siguientes. Este servicio cuidadora intervall petróleo ocurrirá cada 50 horas.
5 Funcionamiento Gasolina y aceite Retroceso de inicio El tanque de combustible tiene capacidad para dos galones. Quite la tapa de combustible girándola en sentido contrario al de las agujas del reloj. Utilice únicamente gasolina limpia, nueva (no más de 30 días de uso) y sin plomo. Llene el tanque a no más de cuatro pulgadas por debajo del borde superior del cuello de llenado para permitir la expansión del combustible.
2. Para conducir hacia ADELANTE: a. Coloque la palanca de cambios en cualquiera de las cuatro velocidades de avance. Seleccione una velocidad adecuada a las condiciones y con la cual se sienta cómodo. b. Oprima el control de la transmisión. c. Oprima lentamente el control de la transmisión contra la manija de la empuñadura y la cortadora se moverá. Suéltelo y se detendrá el movimiento de la transmisión. Para conducir hacia ATRÁS: a. Verifique que el área detrás suyo está despejada. b.
Abono Las cortadoras de césped anchas vienen equipadas con un kit para abono que incorpora cuchillas especiales, que vienen de serie en su cortadora, para recircular los recortes de césped repetidas veces por debajo de la plataforma de corte. Los recortes muy finos luego son despedidos hacia atrás para que se depositen en el césped y actúen como fertilizante natural. Observe los siguientes puntos para obtener los mejores resultados al realizar el abono.

Batería 1. Altura de la manija La manija superior está sujeta a dos barras de apoyo que se pueden ajustar para subir o bajar la altura de la manija. De ser necesario, realice un ajuste de la siguiente manera: 1.

Extracción de la plataforma de corte ¡ADVERTENCIA! Antes de realizar cualquier mantenimiento o reparación, desconecte las cuchillas, apague el motor y retire la llave para evitar el encendido accidental del motor. Para extraer la plataforma de corte, proceda de la siguiente manera: 1.
Brazo de elevación Cuchillas de corte ¡ADVERTENCIA! Apague el motor y extraiga la llave de contacto (si está equipado) antes de retirar las cuchillas de corte para afilarlas o reemplazarlas. Proteja sus manos utilizando guantes reforzados cuando sujete las cuchillas. ¡ADVERTENCIA! Inspeccione periódicamente la cuchilla y/o el husillo en busca de rajaduras o daños, especialmente después de golpear un objeto extraño. No opere la máquina hasta después de haber reemplazado los componentes dañados.
PRECAUCIÓN: Si el borde de corte de la cuchilla ha sido afilado previamente o si existe una separación de metal, reemplace las cuchillas por otras nuevas. Carga de la batería ¡ADVERTENCIA! Al cargarse, las baterías emiten un gas que puede causar explosiones. Cargue la batería en un área bien ventilada y manténgala alejada de una llama expuesta o piloto, como los de los calentadores de agua, calefactores de ambiente, hornos, secadores de ropa y otros aparatos a gas. 8 Solución de Problemas Problema El motor no arranca El motor funciona de manera errática Solución 1. Coloque el control del regulador/cebador en la posición CHOKE (cebador). 2. El depósito de combustible está vacío o el combustible se ha echado a perder. 2. Llene el depósito con gasolina limpia y nueva (de menos de 30 días). 3. La línea del combustible está bloqueada. 3.
