Information about your Lifetime Warranty DeWit Tool
DeWit tools are manufactured in the Netherlands, using the finest quality
materials; hardened Swedish Boron Steel and hardwood ash handles harvested
from European FSC-certified forests. Combining old-fashioned quality and years of
forging experience with modern techniques and equipment, these tools are made
with pride by the DeWit family, now in its 5
th
generation!
The heads of the tools are machine-washed, then dipped into a protective water-
based coating, which is then baked on to the steel using infrared heat. The coating
is environmentally friendly and adds protection to the tool during transit as well as
safety for those handling the tool. The coating will eventually wear off with use.
The handles have a clear epoxy sealant applied during the manufacturing process.
Instructions for Caring for your DeWit Tool
After extended use, it is recommended to oil the tools to prevent drying or
cracking. There are many types of oil that can be used, but we recommend boiled
linseed oil, which is environmentally-friendly. It can be used both on the steel and
wood parts of the tools. Just apply it liberally over the entire tool, let it absorb for
about 15 minutes, then wipe off the excess. If you live in a drier climate, you
should oil the handles more often to prevent them from drying out and cracking.
For rust-prevention, the tool heads can be inserted into a container with sand
when not in use. Oil can be added to the sand for best results.
