Study all of the battery manufacturer’s specific precautions while charging and recommended rates of charge. Determine the voltage of the battery by referring to the vehicle owner’s manual and make sure that the output voltage selector switch is set to the correct voltage.

For a positive-grounded vehicle, connect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) clip from the battery charger to the NEGATIVE (NEG, N, -) ungrounded post of the battery. Connect the POSITIVE (RED) clip to the vehicle frame or engine block at a distance away from the battery. Do not connect the clip to the carburetor, fuel lines or sheet-metal body parts. Connect to a heavy gauge metal part of the vehicle frame or engine block.

Battery Type Button Use this button to set the type of battery to be charged. • Standard – Set the button to 12V STANDARD or 6V STANDARD. • Deep-Cycle – Set the button to 12V DEEP CYCLE. • AGM – Set the button to 12V AGM/GEL. • GEL – Set the button to 12V AGM/GEL. Charge Rate Button Use this button to set the maximum charge rate. • 2A Slow Charge Rate – Intended for charging small batteries such as those commonly used in garden tractors, snowmobiles and motorcycles.
Completion of Charge Charge completion is indicated by the CHARGED (green) LED. When lit, the charger has switched to the Maintain Mode of operation. If the 12V DEEP CYCLE battery type was selected, the CHARGED (green) LED comes on when the battery is charged enough for normal use. Maintain Mode (Float-Mode Monitoring) When the CHARGED (green) LED is lit, the charger has started Maintain Mode. In this mode, the charger keeps the battery fully charged by delivering a small current when necessary.
Cool Down – After cranking, the charger enters a mandatory 3 minute cool down state. During this period, no settings can be changed. The buttons are ignored. The digital display indicates the remaining cool down time in seconds. It starts at 180 and counts down to 0. During the cool down period, no current is delivered to the battery. After 3 minutes, the digital display will change from displaying the countdown back to displaying rdy.
General Charging Notes Fan: The charger is designed to control its cooling fan for efficient operation. Consequentially, it is normal for the fan to start and stop when maintaining a fully charged battery. The fan does not run in Tester Mode. Keep the area near the charger clear of obstructions to allow the fan to operate efficiently. Restart: If the Charge Mode is changed after charging has started (by pressing the CHARGE RATE or BATTERY TYPE button), the charging process will restart. 12.
15. TROUBLESHOOTING and Failure codes FAILURE CODE DESCRIPTION F01 Battery failed to get over 10V within 2 hours. Could be caused by either a bad battery or trying to charge a 6V battery on the 12V setting. F02 Battery could not be desulfated. The desulfation process could not be completed – battery is bad. F03 Battery failed to charge completely. Could be caused by a bad battery or trying to charge a large battery or bank of batteries on too low of a current setting.
PROBLEM CHECK BATTERY (red) LED is on. POSSIBLE CAUSE REASON/SOLUTION Clips are not making a good connection to the battery. Check for poor connection to battery and frame. Make sure connection points are clean. Rock the clips back and forth for a better connection. Connections are reversed. Unplug the charger and reverse the clips. Battery is defective (will not accept a charge). Have battery checked. CHECK BATTERY (red) LED is blinking. Indicates the charger is in abort mode.
16. 16.1 16.2 16.3 BEFORE RETURNING FOR REPAIRS When a charging problem arises, make certain that the battery is capable of accepting a normal charge. Double check all connections, the AC outlet for a full 120 volts, the charger clips for correct polarity and the quality of the connections from the cables to the clips and from the clips to the battery system. The clips must be clean. When a battery is very cold, partially charged or sulfated, it will not draw the full rated amperes from the charger.

Las baterías generan gases explosivos durante su normal funcionamiento. Por este motivo, resulta de suma importancia que siga las instrucciones cada vez que utiliza el cargador.

Durante la limpieza, evite que la corrosión producida por aire tenga contacto con sus ojos, nariz y boca. Utilice bicarbonato de sodio y agua para neutralizar el ácido de la batería y ayudar a eliminar la corrosión producida por aire. No toque sus ojos, nariz o boca. Agregue agua destilada a cada pila hasta que el ácido de la batería alcance el nivel especificado por el fabricante de la batería.

Si el borne negativo hace descarga a tierra con el chasis (como en la mayor parte de los vehículos), ver el paso 6.5. Si el borne positivo hace descarga a tierra con el chasis, ver el paso 6.6.
8. Conexiones a tierra y energía de CA EL RIESGO DE DESCARGA ELÉCTRICA O INCENDIO 8.1 Este cargador de batería está destinado a un uso en un circuito con tensión nominal de 120 V y posee un enchufe con descarga a tierra que luce como el enchufe ilustrado. El cargador debe poseer una descarga a tierra para reducir el riesgo de descargas eléctricas. El enchufe se debe conectar a un tomacorriente adecuadamente instalado y que cuente con descarga a tierra de acuerdo con todas las ordenanzas y códigos.
Indicadores LEDs LED VERIFICACIÓN de la BATERÍA (rojo) encendido: Indica que el cargador no está propiamente conectado a la batería. LED VERIFICACIÓN de la BATERÍA (rojo) intermitente: Indica que el cargador está en modo anulada. LED CARGANDO (amarillo) encendido: Indica que el cargador está cargando la batería. LED CARGADO (verde) encendido: Indica que la carga de la batería está completa y que el cargado cambió a modo mantener.
11. INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN Este cargador de baterías debe ser ensamblado correctamente de acuerdo a las instrucciones de ensamble antes de usar. El cargador carece de interruptor para encendido y apagado. Los controles para encendido y apagado se controlan conectando 71225 en el tomacorriente de 120V C.C. y sólo después de que las conexiones de la batería se han realizado. Carga 1.
NOTA: El Modo de Mantenimiento es una tecnología utilizada en los cargadores DieHard, para permitirle cargar y mantener confiadamente segura su batería y para que mantenga su batería saludable por largos períodos de tiempo. Ahora, los problemas con la batería, problemas eléctricos del vehículo, conexiones equivocadas u otras condiciones que surgan, podrías causar excesivo escape de voltaje. De modo que, se recomienda, enérgicamente supervisar la batería y el proceso de carga.
Utilizar el probador de tensión de batería Visión general Este cargador de batería tiene un voltímetro incorporado para probar el estado de carga de la batería. El cargador no tiene un probador de carga incorporado. Por ende, una batería recientemente cargada podría tener una tensión alta temporalmente debido a lo que se conoce como “carga de superficie”. La tensión de dicha batería gradualmente descenderá durante el período inmediatamente después de que el sistema de carga se desconecte.
Notas generales sobre la carga Ventilador: El cargador está diseñado para controlar el ventilador de refrigeración para un funcionamiento eficiente. Por consiguiente, es normal para el ventilador iniciar y detenerse cuando mantiene una batería cargada por completo. El ventilador no funciona en el Tester Mode [Modo de probador]. Mantener el área cerca del cargador sin obstrucciones para permitir que el ventilador funcione eficazmente.
15. LOCALIZACIÓN Y SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS y CODIGO DE FALLA CODIGO DE FALLA DESCRIPCION CAUSA F01 La Batería no absorbió 10V en un lapso de 2 horas. Podía ser causada por una batería en mal estado o intentando cargar una batería 6V en el nivel de 12V. F02 La batería podría no estar desulfatada. El proceso de desulfatación podría no ser complete – batería en mal estado. F03 La batería no se cargó completamente.
PROBLEMA El cargador realiza un fuerte zumbido o tararear. POSIBLE CAUSA SOLUCIÓN Las láminas del transformador vibran (provocan un zumbido). No es un problema; es una situación habitual. Montaje del diodo o montaje del rectificador de salida cortocircuitado (provocan un tararear). Haga revisar el cargador por un técnico capacitado. Los ganchos no se encuentran bien conectados a la batería. Verifique la posible presencia de una conexión defectuosa a la batería o al bastidor.
PROBLEMA POSIBLE CAUSA El cargador no se enciende Tomacorriente de C.A. fuera de incluso al estar bien conectado. funcionamiento. Los ganchos no se encuentran bien conectados.
