Chapter 4: DACS Operation

This chapter discusses DACS operation. Topics include powering the system up and down, soft-

ware operation, interfacing to a host computer, and external equipment operation.

Powering the DACS Up and Down

Use the following procedures when powering up and down the DACS.

Power Up Sequence

To power up the DACS, perform the following procedure:

• Ensure that there is no disk in the ﬂoppy drive.

• For systems using TDM rings and RIUs, the RIUs should be powered up before or at the

same time as the DACS to avoid any possible synchronization problems with the TDM ring.

• Switch on the DACS using the ON/OFF rocker switch or push-button located on the front of

the chassis.

• The Model Builder software environment will start automatically and display the Model

Builder Main Menu shown in “Model Builder Main Menu” on page 35.

• Ensure that all externally connected equipment is powered up as required.
