Appendix E: Cold Start Support
AMI BIOS (c) 1992 Setup (486 Systems)
Note: BIOS date is located at the top of Main Utility page. For 486 systems with AMI BIOS
(c)1992, perform the following for BIOS setup:
• Reboot the DACS and enter the BIOS setup routine
• Select “Auto Configure With BIOS Defaults”
• Select the “Auto Detect Hard Disk” option to generate the appropriate hard disk parameters
• Select the “Standard CMOS Setup”
• Enter correct time and date, check that the hard disk parameters have been identified, enable
the floppy, and set keyboard for “Not Installed”
• Exit and select “Advanced CMOS Setup”
• Set the following:
Memory Test Tick Sound = Enable
Above 1MB memory option = Enable
Floppy seek at boot = Enable
Boot Sequence = A:, C:
• Verify the following settings:
Video Shadow & Cache = Shadow
Adaptor Shadow & Cache = Disabled
System Shadow & Cache = Shadow
• Exit and select “Peripheral Management”
• Set the following:
Programming option to Manual
On Board Floppy Drive to Enabled
On Board IDE to Enabled
(if system has a removable drive,
set this option to Disable)
First Serial Port Address to 3F8H
2nd Serial Port Address to 2F8H
Parallel port Address to 378H
• Exit and select “Write to CMOS and Exit”
The system will save the configuration and automatically reboot.
Note: If MS DOS is to be installed next, place DOS Disk1 in a: drive.
