Inspect the battery for signs of impending failure, including:
Swelling, deformation, or elongation.
Indentations or lifting of battery terminals.
Moisture or liquid on the battery surface.
Chemical corrosion or deposits on the battery terminals.
Follow your site’s hazardous materials handling procedures to dispose of damaged or leaking batteries.
Inspect the Device Casing
To ensure that the stainless-steel device casing (bottom of the device) remains in good operating
condition:
Inspect the device negative battery terminal spring. Look for chemical corrosion or deposits.
Visually check that the device contact pads at the top of the case are undamaged and free of
deposits.
Verify that the reverse polarity protection pad in the center of the negative terminal spring is
centered and positioned on the inside and at the bottom of the device casing.
Clean the interior of the device using a clean, dry, anti-static cloth.
Replace the Battery
If needed, replace the battery. See the “Install Battery” section. To dispose of used or partially expended
batteries, follow your site’s or locality’s hazardous materials handling procedures.
Inspect the O-rings
VP Series 2000 devices use two O-rings to seal the unit against dust and moisture. Replace the O-rings if
they are damaged or if you are replacing the battery.
To maintain the device’s IP67 dust and water-resistant rating:
Ensure that the O-rings are free from dust and debris.
Remove dust and dirt using a clean, dry cloth.
Coat new O-rings very lightly with silicone grease.
! Note
VP Series 2000 devices use different size O-rings on the sensor body and e-module. Proper installation
and lubrication are required to maintain the IP rating and to prevent leaks.
E-module - 34x1mm
Device case - 35x1mm
