Notes on using N-04C • The FOMA terminal does not support accessing i-mode sites (programs), i-αppli, etc. • The FOMA terminal automatically performs communication for synchronizing data, checking the latest software version, maintaining connection with the server, etc. Also, operations such as downloading applications and viewing videos cause a large volume of packet to be transmitted and incurs high communication charges. Subscription to packet flat-rate service is highly recommended.
Safety Precautions (Observe Strictly) ■ For safe and proper use of the FOMA terminal, please read the "Safety Precautions" prior to use. Keep the Manual in a safe place for future reference. ■ ALWAYS observe the safety precautions since they intend to prevent personal injury or property damage. ■ The following symbols indicate the different levels of injury or damage that may result if the guidelines are not observed and the FOMA terminal is used improperly.
1. Handling the FOMA terminal, battery pack, adapter (including the charging adapter), and UIM (common) Do May cause fire, burns, injuries, or electric shock. DANGER Don’t Do not use, store, or leave the FOMA terminal, battery pack, adapter, or UIM in a place subject to high temperature such as close to fire, under direct sunlight, or in a car on an extremely hot day. WARNING Do not throw the equipment or give hard shock to it. Don’t May cause fire, burns or injuries.
Do Turn FOMA terminal OFF and stop charging before entering a place such as a gas station where flammable gases are generated. The gas may catch fire. Be sure to turn your FOMA terminal off before using your おサイフケータイ (Osaifu-Keitai) at a gas station or the like. (If you set Osaifu-Keitai lock ON, unlock it and power off the terminal.
2. Handling the FOMA terminal WARNING Power off the FOMA terminal in a place where the use is prohibited such as in airplane or hospital. Do Do not emit infrared light from the infrared data port to eyes. Don’t Don’t May affect the eyes. Do not point the infrared data port to home electric appliances with an infrared data port when you make an infrared data exchange. Appliances may operate incorrectly, causing an accident. Do not put any light emitting part close to an eye and make it lit.
Do If you wear any implanted electronic medical devices, contact the manufacturer or vendor of the electronic medical device to ask about the effect from radio waves. Do The display is covered by a protective film and the surface of the camera lens is covered by a plastic panel to prevent pieces of the glass from scattering even if it is broken, but accidental touching of a cut surface or exposed portion may cause injury. Electronic medical devices may be adversely affected.
Don’t If the display part is accidentally broken and the liquid crystal leaks out, do not make it contact with your skin of face or hands. Do May cause loss of sight or skin problems. If the liquid crystal gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse it with clean water and see a doctor immediately. And, if the liquid crystal adheres to skin or clothing, use alcohol etc. to wipe it off, and then wash with soap.
Don’t Don’t Do not forcibly attach the battery pack to the FOMA terminal. Also, make sure to attach the battery pack in the correct direction. Do The battery pack may catch fire, explode, overheat or leak. The leaking liquid may ignite fire, catch fire, or explode. Do not throw the battery pack into fire. Prevent your pet from biting the battery pack. May cause the battery pack to catch fire, explode, overheat, or leak.
If battery fluid or another substance leaks from the battery pack, do not allow it to get on the skin of your face, hands, etc. Do May cause loss of sight or skin problems. If battery fluid or another substance gets into your eyes or mouth, or on your skin or clothing, rinse it off with clean water immediately. Furthermore, if battery fluid gets into your eyes or mouth, rinse your eyes or mouth with clean water and then consult a doctor immediately.
Do Use the adapter at the specified power source and voltage. Also, if charging the FOMA terminal overseas, use an AC adapter available overseas. Using at the wrong voltage may result in fire, burns, or electric shock. AC adapter: 100V AC DC adapter: 12/24V DC (for negative grounded vehicles only) AC adapter usable overseas: 100 to 240V AC (Connect only with household AC outlet) Do Failure to do so may cause fire, burns, or electric shock.
6. Precautions on using near electronic medical equipment ■ The following description meets "Guidelines on the Use of Radio communications Equipment such as Cellular Telephones and Safeguards for Electronic Medical Equipment" by the Electromagnetic Compatibility Conference Japan. Do Operation of an implanted cardiac pacemaker or implanted defibrillator may be adversely affected by radio waves.

Handling Precautions Common precautions Do not expose to water. The FOMA terminal, battery pack, adapter (including the charging adapter), and UIM are not waterproof. Do not use them in a humid place such as a bathroom or in the rain. If you carry the FOMA terminal on your body, perspiration may corrode the internal parts of the FOMA terminal and cause malfunction.
FOMA terminal precautions Do not press the touch panel hard with your finger or operate on it with sharp objects (nail, ballpoint pen, pin etc.). May cause the touch panel to be damaged. Do not use the FOMA terminal in extremely hot or cold places. Use the FOMA terminal within a temperature range of 5°C to 35°C and a humidity range of 45% to 85%. Using the FOMA terminal near land-line phone, television or radio may cause interference in these electric appliances.
Charge the battery pack in an environment with the proper ambient temperature (5°C to 35°C). The operating time of the battery pack varies depending on the operating environment and the secular degradation of the battery pack. Depending on the use condition, the battery pack may be inflated as it comes to the end of its life. This is not a malfunction.
Do not insert the UIM into the FOMA terminal with any label or sticker is put. May cause malfunction. Bluetooth function precautions 2.4 FH To secure the data communication using the Bluetooth function, the FOMA terminal supports the security function compliant with Bluetooth standards, but the security may not be sufficient depending on the setting. Be aware of the data communication using the Bluetooth function.
Wireless LAN Do not use wireless LAN near magnetic devices such as electrical appliances or AV/OA devices, or in radio waves. • Magnetism or radio waves may increase noises or disable communications (especially when using a microwave oven). • When used near TV, radio, etc., reception interference may occur, or channels on the TV screen may be disturbed. • If there are multiple wireless LAN access points nearby and the same channel is used, search may not work correctly.
FeliCa reader/writer cautions The FeliCa reader/writer on the FOMA terminal employs weak signals requiring no radio station license. The frequency band used is 13.56 MHz. If there is another reader/writer around your FeliCa reader/writer, use it, keeping it sufficiently away from the other reader/ writer. Also, before using it, confirm that another station using the same frequency band is not being operated nearby. Use Bluetooth function only in Japan.

This will reduce the actual usage time and deplete the battery. If this happens, please charge it again correctly.
Depending on the battery pack operating conditions, the battery pack may swell when it nears the end of its life but this is not a problem. • To prevent damage to the environment, bring used battery packs to a docomo service counter, a docomo agent or a recycling center.
