If the "Show password." checkbox is
marked, all entered characters will be
displayed.
• From the "Wi-Fi settings" screen, press
m → "Change priority" to change the
priority of connections.
NOTE
There are 2 types of available networks -
open networks and protected networks. The
network type is indicated by an icon at the
network name. represents an open
network and represents a protected
network.
The icon also indicates the signal strength.
Depending on the access point settings,
the network connection name of an
available network may not be displayed. If
this happens, you can still connect to the
network. See "Adding a Wi-Fi network"
(P.71).
When establishing a Wi-Fi network
connection, the required IP information is
obtained from a DHCP server in the network
automatically. However, it is possible to
specify these items separately. For more
information, see "Connecting to a Wi-Fi
network by specifying a static IP address"
(P.70).

Connecting to a Wi-Fi network by
specifying a static IP address
1 From the Home screen, m
→ "Settings" → "Wireless &
networks" → "Wi-Fi settings".
2 m → "Advanced" → "Use
static IP".
• A mark appears in the "Use static IP"
checkbox, meaning that you can now
enter the 5 items required for Wi-Fi
network connection ("IP address",
"Gateway", "Netmask", "DNS 1" and
"DNS 2").
3 Tap "IP address", "Gateway",
"Netmask", "DNS 1" and
"DNS 2" in that order.
• A menu appears for each item. Set the
appropriate value for each item.

Notifying of unprotected Wi-Fi

→ "Settings" → "Wireless &
networks" → "Wi-Fi settings".
2 Mark the "Wi-Fi" checkbox.
3 Mark the "Network
notification" checkbox.
• You are automatically notified of
unprotected Wi-Fi networks detected.
