TheMixingLevelparameterdescribesthepeakSPLduringthefinalmixingsessionatthe
studiooronthedubbingstage.Theparameterallow saconsumersamplifiertosetits
volumecontroltomatchthatofthemixingroom.Thiscontroloperatesinadditiontothe
dialoguelevelcontrol,andis
bestthoughtofasthefinalvolumesettingontheconsumers
equipment.ThisvaluecanbedeterminedbymeasuringtheSPLofpinknoiseatstudio
referencelevelandthenaddingtheamountofdigitalheadroomabovethatlevel.For
example,if85dBequatestoareferencelevelof
–20dBFS;themixinglevelis85+20,or105
dB.
Room Type
TheRoomTypeparameterdescribestheequalizationusedduringthefinalmixingsession
atthestudiooronthedubbingstage.Alargeroomisadubbingstagewiththeindustry
standardXcurveequalization;asmallroomhasflatequalization.Thisparameterallows
anamplifiertobesettothe
sameequalizationasthatheardinthefinalmixing
environment.
