5.2 Charging the Ni-Cd batteries
The transmitter and re c e i v e r b a tteries included wi t h y o u
FS-TH9 X s y s t e m a r e recha r g e a b l e ,Ni-Cd b a tteries.Ni-Cd
batteries require sp e c i a l c a r e and charging.
NOTE:The batteries are p a r t i a l l y charged,but will re q u i r e
a full, overnight char g e b e f o r e t he model may be flown.
1.C o n n e c t the t r a n smitter c h a r g i n g cord coming f r o m the
A/C wa l l c h a r g e r t o the charge jack in th e r i g h t sid e of
the transmit t e r case. The re c e i v er charging co r d may be
connected to the batteries two dif f e r e n t ways:T h e charge
cord may be co nnected directly to the battery pack, or to
the va c a n t charge c onnector(llack)c o m i n g from t h e on/o f f
switch in the model.Ch a r g i n g " through the switch" i s p r e f e r red
as there will be no need dis c o n n e c t t he battery.
2.P l u g th e A/C wa l l charger i n t o a wa l l outlet.Note:If th e wall ou t l e t can be tu r n ed
off by a switch in the romm, b e c e r t a i n t he switch remains on aft e r l e a v i n g the room.
Otherwise,the batt e r i e s w i l l not be charged!
3.T h e LEDs(li g h t - e m i tting di o des)should light red, in d i c a ting th a t c u r r e n t is flowing
and the batter i e s a r e being char g e d . D i s charged batteri e s w i l l take about 1 5 h o u r s to
fully charge.If usin g a n a f t e r m arket fast charger,b e c e r t a i n t o follow the manufact u r e r ' s
instructions p r o v ided with the charg e r so you d o not o v e r c h arge the b atteries.NEVER
charge the ba t t eries at a rate higher than 1000mA.The batterie s should also be discharged
periodically to p e r i o d ically to prev e n t a condition ca l l e d " m e mory".If,for ex a m p l e ,
only two flights ar e mode ea c h time you go flying,the ba t teries wi l l not ha v e " r eached
"very far down i n t o their full c a p a c i t y .After doing t h i s s e veral times th e b a t t eries
will"remember"an d ev e n t u ally"think"they ca n su p p l y only enougt power fo r tw o fi g h ts.
After tw o fl i g h t s the batterie s may not pr o vide en o ugh po w e r to operate the system,
thus causing a crash.To e r a s e any potenti a l m emory,cycle t h e batteries b y d i scharging,
then charging them with a commercial battery cycler , o r l e a v e t h e s y s t e m o n a n d e x e r c i s e
the servos by mov i n g t h e transmitter sticks u n t i l t he even during th e w i n t e r or periods
of l o ng s t orage.If using a cycler with a readout,note the cajpaci t y af t e r t h e ba t t e r i e s
have been c y c l e d.If there i s a noticeable d r o p in ca p a c i ty the b a t t e r i e s should b e
replaced.
NOTE :ch a r g i n g y o ur batteries with the i n c l u d e d FLYSKY A / C b a t t ery charger is always
safe.However,fas t - c h a r g ing wi t h an a f t e r market c h a r g e r is acceptable a s long as y o u
know how to pro p e r l y o perate the char g e r , N E V ER charge at a r a t e h i gher than 1000m A . I f
not done correctly,f a s t - c h a rging can damage the ba t t e r i e s .
