WARNINGS: Aircraft Use In very few vehicles, the child restraint cannot be properly installed because of the type of seat belt system, airbag system and/or lack of location to anchor the tether strap. Always read and follow the vehicle owner’s manual instructions for child restraint use. This child restraint is certified for aircraft use. Use only on forward-facing seats and in a position where the seat belt can be tightened securely.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 13 Universal Anchorage System (UAS) Information As of September 1, 2002, Universal Anchorage Systems were required to be installed on child restraint systems. Vehicles built after this date are required to have anchor brackets/bars built into the vehicle seat.The UAS allows for easier installation of child restraint systems as the vehicle seat belt does not have to be used.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 15 Child Restraint Description Locking Clip Installation Your child’s height, weight and age determine how your child restraint should be placed in the vehicle and which restraint should be used. The locking clip is used to prevent the vehicle belt from loosening in the event of a sudden stop or crash. Rear-facing position; Less than one year old and between 2.3-14 kg. (5-30 lbs.) and 48-81 cm. (19-32 inches) tall.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 17 Grasp the vehicle lap/shoulder belts together tightly as close to the vehicle latch plate as possible.While holding the belts tightly, unbuckle. Note: If the vehicle latch plate, belt and buckle end up behind the child restraint, grasp the belts as close to the latch plate as possible. 2 Thread both portions of the vehicle belts together onto the locking clip.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 19 Place the child’s bottom and back flat against the child restraint.This will increase comfort and allow the harness straps to properly tighten. 5 Adjusting Harness System Determine which set of harness slots work best for your child (see “Preparing Child Restraint to Fit Your Child” section). 1 Note: Harness straps should be snug. Check Harness Position Rear Facing Position: Harness slot must be even with or just below the shoulders.

Note: The style of buckle may vary, but the operation of the buckle is the same. 1 Place the child’s bottom and back flat against the child restraint. This will increase comfort and allow the harness system to be properly tightened. Pull harness straps over child’s shoulders.

Note: A snug harness is not loose and lies flat against the child without sagging. It does not press on the child's flesh or push the child's body into an unnatural position. 4 ! Removing Your Child From the Child Restraint 1 Depending on your model, the harness adjustment lever may be under a flap on the pad in the front of restraint. WARNING Do not mistake comfort for safety.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 25 Reclining the Child Restraint This child restraint has 2 recline positions: Upright (forward-facing only) and Reclined. 1 Rear-facing - Must be fully reclined. Installing Cup Holder Cup holder can be on either side. Hook cup holder on side of shell. Push down firmly on cup holder until the bottom snaps onto side of shell. Forward-Facing Reclined or upright. For reclined position, pull down to unlock recline stand and fold under seat.

For older vehicles contact your dealer or the manufacturer for locations and hardware installation. Rear-Facing Child Restraint Installation with Vehicle Seat Belt: Fasten child restraint tether hook to tether anchor in vehicle. Tighten tether strap by pulling on loose end of tether strap.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 2 Page 29 When UAS is not in use, fasten the UAS hooks on the sides of the shell as shown. 4 Thread the vehicle lap or lap/shoulder belt through the rear-facing belt path. Do Not Use the tether strap in the rear-facing position. Fasten tether hook to recline stand’s tether hook storage anchor. Fold in recline stand for reclined position (see “Reclining the Child Restraint” section).

WARNING Use of this child restraint in any vehicle where the lap or lap/shoulder belt cannot be tightened securely can result in serious injury or death to the child. Note: Fasten tether hook to recline stand’s tether hook storage anchor. • Check vehicle owner’s manual for UAS belt use with a child restraint.

Make sure UAS belt goes in front of the crotch strap buckle as shown. 4 Completed threading of UAS rear-facing is shown. DO NOT twist belt. Place child restraint rearfacing in the back seat in the fully reclined position. Make sure the level lines on side of shell are level to ground.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 35 9 Push down firmly on the child restraint seat and pull up on loose end of belt to tighten. 10 With one hand at belt path, push and pull the child restraint from side to side, forward and back. If the UAS belt does not loosen, the child restraint should be secure. If belt loosens, repeat all steps. Check your vehicle owner’s manual or call DJG Consumer Relations for help. To release the UAS belt, push down on UAS belt adjuster button to loosen belt.

The recline position is to be used only to install the child restraint flush against the back of the vehicle seat back, if needed. 3 Place child restraint flush against the back of the vehicle seat forwardfacing in the back seat. Thread vehicle belt through the forward-facing belt path. Buckle.

Using this child restraint without the tether strap anchored as recommended by the manufacturer would be a misuse of the child restraint and in a sudden stop or crash could cause serious injury or death. With one hand at belt path, push and pull the child restraint from side to side, forward and back.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 43 3 From the bottom of seat of child restraint locate the buckle’s metal plate. 4 Insert buckle’s metal plate up through slot in the shell and pad. 5 From the front, pull buckle free from shell and pad. 6 7 To Remove Pad: From the back of shell, release the elastic straps shown in red 8 From the front of child restraint, remove pad from shell, starting at the top, then the sides. Lock buckle plates into buckle.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 45 Install Harness System Installing Seat Pad Replace seat pad by reversing order (see “Removing Seat Pad for Cleaning” section). Start by laying pad in shell and tuck in pad around harness adjuster lever cover. Make sure holes in foam pad align with harness slot holes before wrapping pad over top of shell. Hook the elastic straps at top of seat. Turn seat over and thread all elastic straps into the holes and connect them to the posts.

4358-3951B Can Scenera Eng 6/20/07 8:48 AM Page 47 Push one harness end through lower harness slot on the left side of child restraint. 4 Fit harness strap loops onto splitter plate in the back of child restraint. 6 Thread harness strap under seat of child restraint. Be sure harness adjustment strap is between shell and harness strap. Push end of harness strap up through lower harness slot on the right side of child restraint. Note: DO NOT twist harness straps.
