Notify vehicle owner that the fascia requires trimm ing to fit hitch.
Recommend: two persons to remove the fascia to prevent scratches or damage.
1. Remove rear bumper fascia. Disconnect back-up sensor wi r ing if prese nt. (Not s hown)
a. Remove ( 2) plastic fastener from rear of vehicle, between the botto m of the fascia and end panel. See Figure 7.
b. Open tail gate. Remove (2) rubber tailgate stops. See Figure 2.
c. Remove 4 screws (each side) from the plastic wheel well moldi ng. See F igure 4.
d. Gently pull the plastic fascia away from the wheel well molding. See Figure 6.
e. Gently continue to remove fascia. At the tail light pull gently rearward.
f. Pu ll gently on fascia unti l the rear fascia is completely removed from vehicle.
2. Loosen the towing eye. See Figure 3.
a. Remove inside appearance panel at rear of tail gate (2) bolts. See Figure 5.
b. Loosen towing eye under appearance panel, rear passenger side (1) bolt. See Figure 5.
3. Rem ov e im pa c t bar. (Conti nue t o loos e n t owing eye as needed i n e ffort to remove im pa c t bar) .
4. Place hitch into im pact bar aligning bolt holes
5. Raise hitc h a nd impact bar into posi ti on. Re-instal l existing fl a ng e nuts. Hand t ightens drive r ’ s side and lower passeng e r side bolt.
6. Re-install towing eye (sandw i c h hitc h, i mpact bar and towing eye ) . Hand ti g ht e n (6) bol ts . See Figure 1 (T owing ey e show n removed for clari ty)
7. Tighten fasteners to specificat ion.
8. Re-tighten towing eye from inside vehicle trunk.
9. Repl ace inside appearance panel at rear of tail gate (2) bolt s.
10. Using a utility knife carefully cut out the fascia on the bottom inside fascia. Locate bottom center of the fascia. Trim 2-1/2” w ide and 2” long .
See Figure 7. Note: fascia has area to be trimmed for Volvo hitch marked for the V olvo hitch. Obtain vehicle owners approval before cutting .
11. Re-inst all fascia. N ote: making sure fascia sit s flat along rear s helf o f trunk. Working from the rear forward car efu lly reinstalls the fascia.
