Precautions General Precautions Please take note of the following guidelines when using your Ghost-S camera: • The camera is 2m shock resistant, but not shock proof — please take care of your camera and accessories, mounting and storing them securely. • For your safety, do not press the buttons on the camera during sports activities. • Do not store the camera anywhere prone to dust or damp for extended periods of time.
Precautions Attention Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision. DO NOT short-circuit the battery module terminals. DO NOT open, puncture or otherwise damage the rechargeable battery module, or dispose of it in fire. Optimal Camera Storage We recommend users to regularly store cameras for a minimum of 6-12 hours with the battery module removed in a maximum of 30% humidity to help disperse any moisture. Avoid removing Ghost-4K modules in damp or humid conditions.

Using the Camera GHOST 4K 3 4 1 5 2 Initial Setup 1. Uncover the microSD slot by lifting its rubber cover. 2. Insert a Class 10 or higher microSD/HC/XC card (up to 128GB). Format before first usage! 3. Uncover the mini USB port by lifting its rubber cover 4. Connect the camera via a mini USB cable to a powered USB port and charge the battery for 2.5 hours before first use. 5. Replace the rubber covers securely to cover both the microSD slot and mini USB port.
Using the Camera Powering On and Off 1. Press and hold the button for 2 seconds to power the camera on or off. 2. To power the camera on or off while charging, press and release button. Charging • • • • For best results charge your camera and battery module simultaneously. Ensure that the Ghost 4K is powered off. Lift the front rubber port on the underside of the camera. Connect the included mini USB cable to a powered USB port, and then to your Ghost 4K USB port.
Using the Camera Selecting a MicroSD Card The Ghost 4K is compatible with Micro SD, Micro SDHC or Micro SDXC cards up to 128GB. We recommend class 10/UHS1 memory cards. Below is a table of approximate video recording times against card size in normal bit rate mode. Module Docking Module Removal Before removing a module, please ensure that the camera is powered off. If your camera has a module docked, remove by following these instructions: 1. Place index finger onto the module notch. 2. Pull outwards, pivoting on the module. Detaching the module exposes the female connector and module dock area. A tool may be used alternatively to remove the module. Module Attachment Before installing, please ensure that the camera is powered off. 1.
Camera Menu System Mode navigation Press the button to scroll through Video, Photo, Timelapse, Photoburst, and Settings modes. Camera Menu System Video Mode (Green LED) Press the button to start recording. The Status LED and LCD backlight will flash red to indicate recording. Press the button again to stop recording. Video Mode - Selecting Resolution and Frame Rate Press the button to highlight the currently selected resolution, or press twice to highlight the frame rate. The button can be used to scroll through the available options of the highlighted setting.
Settings Menu Wi-Fi Enable W-Fi for connection to the Drift Life app, or turn Wi-Fi off to conserve battery life. Wi-Fi Frequency Choose between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz to ensure the best possible Wi-Fi connection. 2.4GHz achieves the longest range, whilst 5.8GHz is recommended for areas where there are multiple Wi-Fi networks in use. BT Mode Switch between ‘RC’ mode, for connecting your Ghost 4K remote control, and ‘App’ mode for live streaming using the Drift Life mobile app.
Settings Menu Field of View For the best possible image quality the default FOV setting of 140° is ideal, but this option can be used to narrow the FOV to 115° or 90°. Settings Menu Exposure The Ghost 4K features automatic exposure compensation, but also offers the option to manually set exposure. Self Timer Set the Ghost 4K to start recording video or take a photo 3, 5 or 10 seconds after pressing the record button. Bit Rate High bit rate modes preserves as much information as possible, to help you achieve the best possible image quality. Low bit rate helps to keep file sizes manageable, for easy storage and editing.
Settings Menu ISO Sensitivity The Ghost 4K will automatically adjust ISO when set to the default ‘Auto’ setting, or the ISO can be set to 100, 200, 400 or 800 manually. A higher ISO setting is ideal for low light environments, but may result in a more ‘grainy’ image. Video Tagging Video tagging allows the user to press the button after an event, and still save the video. This is ideal for capturing unexpected moments, and is a great tool for saving space on your memory card.
Settings Menu Car DVR Car DVR mode allows you to record continuously when connected to a USB power supply, without worrying about memory card capacity. Select a ‘Car DVR Loop Interval’ in the Ghost 4K settings menu, and the camera will continuously record videos of the chosen duration. When your memory card is full, the camera will automatically overwrite the oldest video. If an event that you want to capture occurs, simply press the button to stop the recording, and the footage will be saved.
Settings Menu Video Stabilisation Video stabilisation can help to remove the effects of camera shake during recording, resulting in smoother footage. This setting is particularly suited to removing vibration and low-amplitude camera movements, so is well suited to helmet mounted or handheld video capture. Please note that Image Stabilisation is not available at 4K, 4K UHD, or above 60fps [Subject to FW].
Settings Menu LED Status Indicator The Ghost 4K gives you the option to turn the LED status indicator, and LCD backlight off, to conserve battery life. LED Indicator Timer Your ghost 4K status indicator and LED backlight can be set to turn off after a specific duration, in order to save battery. Select from 5s, 10s, 20s or 1m durations, or turn the timer off if you’d prefer the status indicator to remain on.
Settings Menu Camera Off Set your camera to power off if idle for a selected duration. Thumbnail Files The Ghost 4K will generate two files for each video or photo – one regular file, and one smaller .THM file for use with the Drift Life app. The .THM files can be disabled in the settings menu. Language English and Chinese language options are currently available (additional options coming soon). Reset Settings Reset your Ghost 4K settings to factory defaults.
Mounting the Camera Lens Marker Initial Setup 1. Attach the Universal Clip to the camera in any 360° orientation as needed –first position the clip in the desired orientation, then secure by rotating the screw base by hand. 2. Slide the Universal Clip into your chosen mount, ensuring that it ‘clicks’ into place. *Double check it has been fully inserted by pushing out the clips. 3. Align your shot.
Connectivity Recorded video footage and photos can be copied to a computer using the USB cable provided or—if your computer has an appropriate card reader—directly from the Micro SD card. Connecting to a Windows PC by USB Cable 1. Connect the camera to your PC using the USB cable. The camera screen will display a USB logo and the LED status indicator will turn red. 2. Your PC’s operating system may be setup to open new devices automatically, if not, open My Computer. 3.

Your Mac’s operating system may be setup to open new devices automatically, if not, open a new Finder window. 3. Your Mac should recognise the camera as a removable device—look for DRIFT CARD in the list of devices and open. 4.
Connectivity Connecting to a Wi-Fi Device 1. Power the camera on, and press and hold the [Rear] button to turn the Wi-Fi on. When the Wi-Fi indicator LED on the rear of the camera turns green, the network is ready. 2. Download the Drift Life app form the Google Play (Android), or the App Store (iOS). 3. Launch the Drift Life app, and tap ‘Connect Camera.’ 4. Follow the in-app connection instructions to connect your Ghost-S to your mobile device.
Camera Care The Ghost 4K is specifically designed for extreme sports. It is a very durable piece of equipment. However, to ensure a long and healthy life for your camera, please follow the guidelines below. Cleaning the Camera During your sporting activities, the camera will inevitably get dirty or wet. Although this is not an issue, it is recommended that you clean the camera after each use. Clean the camera thoroughly with a damp cloth and let it air dry before uncovering ports, or rotating the lens.
