Installation Guide

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS USING THE
STRAP CHANNEL ON THE DS3
The strap channel on the DS3 allows the saddle to be installed on strapping which
has already been affixed on both ends. This relieves the installer of having to
handle three or four items simultaneously when installing suspended flex duct.
The installer attaches one end of the strapping to the supporting structure. Then
he runs the strapping under the flex duct and lifts the duct to the proper height.
He then adjusts the strap length for proper and level installation. He can then cut
the strapping to the desired length and attach the 2
nd
end of the strap with the
duct supported. At this point the duct is suspended at the proper level, resting
temporarily on the strapping alone. Now he can install the saddle on the
strapping.
The Saddle is inserted between the duct and the strapping by lifting the duct up
and sliding the saddle in between the duct and the strap. The strapping simply
slides sideways into the arched strap channel. The saddle slides forward until the
strap passes all the way into the long, parallel strap channels. The saddle is then
pulled backward until the edge of the strapping passes the arched channel and
slides forward into the front of the long, parallel channels. The saddle is now
installed. The duct is lowered and rests on the load supporting saddle without
sagging. The ducts can be pulled taught and fully extended, which smooths out
the inner helix to a fully expanded state and provides the lowest amount of
friction possible.
