Description
DUCK COAT LIQUID RUBBER BASEMENT SEALER
is a highly elastic polymer emulsion sealer
featuring advanced rubber technology. DUCK
COAT provides an impervious barrier to water and
moisture that seeps in from the exterior of walls.
DUCK COAT forms a thick, gray highly elastomeric
rubber membrane. Dries gray.
Uses
Exterior, Interior, above or below grade concrete
basement walls, masonry walls, foundation walls,
poured concrete walls, cinder blocks, retaining
walls, styrofoam boards, wood, metal and more.
Surface Preparation
DUCK COAT performs best on unpainted surfaces.
Remove all dirt, dust, oil, form release compound
or loose paint. Fill and patch all cracks and holes
with DUCK COAT BASEMENT WALL PATCH. Apply
patch material along seam where the wall meets
the floor. Patch material may also be applied to
corner seams where vertical walls join together.
Remove any white powdery residue (efflorescence)
with stiff wire brush prior to applying Duck Coat.
Walls and surfaces should be as dry as possible
before applying DUCK COAT materials.
Warning
Old, existing paint on walls may contain lead.
Scraping and sanding old paint may release
lead dust which is toxic. EXPOSURE TO LEAD
DUST MAY CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS OR BRAIN
DAMAGE. Be sure to wear NIOSH approved
respirator to avoid breathing dust. You can log onto
www.epa.gov/lead/ for additional information.
Application
Stir material thoroughly before and during
application. Apply DUCK COAT LIQUID RUBBER
BASEMENT SEALER by roller (3/4” nap), brush or
spray. Apply a minimum of two coats for adequate
protection. A total of 2 gallons per 100 square feet
must be applied to achieve optimum performance
and protection. Be sure to work first coat of
sealer into pores of wall with roller or brush. If
spraying, be sure to back roll sealer with roller to
work material into pores of wall. Allow sealer to
dry completely between coats before applying
additional coats. If needed, apply more than
2 coats to achieve recommended coverage of
2 gallons total application per 100 square feet.
Make sure there are no pinholes in dried coating.
When finished, the dried rubber sealer membrane
should be at least the thickness of a dime laid flat.
Clean Up
Wash tools with water before material dries.
Weather Conditions
Indoor temperature should be 65°-70°F during
application of DUCK COAT. When applying DUCK
COAT to exterior (outdoor) surfaces, temperature
should be a minimum of 60°F and rising during
application. Temperature shall not drop below 60°F
within 24 hours after application. In areas where
dew or fog accumulates in the early evening, it is
best to apply sealer in the morning. Stop coating
by early afternoon (3:00 pm) to avoid wash off,
which will occur if dew, fog, or rain arrives before
coating dries. Do not apply to outdoor surfaces if
rain is imminent or forecast within 24 hours after
application.
Coverage (Approximate)
2 gallons will provide enough material for 2 coats
(minimum required) over 100 square feet of wall
surface. Rougher surfaces may require more
material.
