TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem Possible Cause Corrective Action
Appliance produces  a 
clicking/ticking noise just 
after burner is lit or shut 
off.
1. Metal expanding while heat-
ing  or  contracting  while 
cooling.
1. This  is  common  with  most 
appliances.  If  noise  is  ex-
cessive,  contact  qualified 
service person.
Appliance produces un-
wanted odors.
1. Appliance  burning  vapors 
from paint, hair spray, glues, 
cleaners,  chemicals,  new 
carpet,  etc.  (See  IMPOR-
TANT statement page 14).
2. Gas leak.  See Warning 
statement page 14.
1. Open ue to maximum. Stop 
using odor causing products 
while appliance is running.
2. Locate and correct all leaks 
(see Checking Gas Connec-
tions, page 10).
Gas  odor  even  when 
control  knob  is  in  OFF 
position.

1. Clogged  or  blocked  port-
holes.
2. Insufficient  gas  pressure 
and/or supply.
3. Decorative  media  may  be 
packed too tightly.
4. Auxiliary  shutoff  valve  par-
tially closed.
1. Clear burner ports.
2. Contact  a  qualied  service 
person.
3. Loosen media around burner 
using  a  screwdriver  or  flat 
kitchen  knife  around  both 
sides of the burner tube. Even 
out media in burner pan.
4. Open valve fully.
Flame at aire mixer (pro-
pane units only).
1. Clogged  or  blocked  burner 
ports.
2. Insufficient  gas  pressure 
and/or supply.
3. Decorative  media  may  be 
packed too tightly.
4. Excessive gas pressure.
1. Clear burner ports.
2. Contact  a  qualied  service 
person.
