SECTION 4: First aid measures
4.1. Description of first aid measures
First-aid measures general : This product is not hazardous. Not expected to require first aid measures.
First-aid measures after inhalation : During combustion: If inhaled and if breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air
and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.
First-aid measures after ingestion : Not expected to present a significant ingestion hazard under anticipated conditions
of normal use. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
4.2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms/injuries : No significant signs or symptoms indicative of any health hazard are expected to
occur. During combustion: May cause respiratory irritation.
Symptoms/injuries after inhalation : During combustion : Inhalation may cause: irritation, cough, shortness of breath.
Symptoms/injuries after ingestion : Like any product not designed to be ingested, this product may cause stomach
distress if ingested in large quantities.
4.3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
All treatments should be based on observed signs and symptoms of distress in the patient.
SECTION 5: Firefighting measures
5.1. Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media : Carbon dioxide. Foam. Dry chemical. Water spray.
Unsuitable extinguishing media : None known.
5.2. Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Fire hazard : No particular fire or explosion hazard. Combustion generates: Carbon oxides (CO,
CO2).
Explosion hazard : Product is not explosive.
Reactivity : Normally stable, even under fire exposure conditions, and not reactive with water.
5.3. Advice for firefighters
Firefighting instructions : Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Exercise caution when
fighting any fire.
Protection during firefighting : Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory
protection. Wear fire/flame resistant/retardant clothing. Wear a self-contained
breathing apparatus.
Other information : Breaking up the burning log with a poker, etc. will cause a sudden flare-up and
intensify the fire. Burning pieces of the firelog may stick to the poker.
