Interior Installation
What is covered? United States Gypsum Company warrants that Du r o c k cement board products manufactured and sold by United
States Gypsum Company:
1. Shall be free from defects in the manufacture of materials.
2. Will not swell, soften, decay or disintegrate in service; and
3. Will not delaminate as a result of exposure to moisture.
Warranty shall become effective when either Du r o c k cement board product is installed in accordance with
USG’s current installation instructions in our publication, Du r o c k Cement Board Submittal Sheet (CB399), the
installation procedures described by Tile Council of North America in its Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation and
ANSI Specifications for cement backerboard, tile and grout.
ANSI installation specifications include A108.11-1999 for cementitious backer units, A108.4 for organic
adhesives, A108.5 for latex-portland cement mortar, and A108.10 for grout. ANSI product specifications include
A118.9-1999 for Du r o c k board, A136.1-1999 for organic adhesives, A118.4-1999 for latex-portland cement
mortar and A118.6-1999 for grout.
Service requirements for warranted installations shall be “Residential & Light Construction” walls in wet,
limited water exposure and dry areas as well as “Residential” flooring areas as defined in the Wall Tiling and Floor
Tiling Installation Guide sections of the “Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation.” “Commercial Construction” is
not covered by this warranty. For information on warranty coverage on applications other than those listed, please
contact your local United States Gypsum Company representative.
This warranty extends to dealers who sell our products, contractors who install our products and all owners
of the building within the warranty period.
How long does coverage last? This warranty runs for thirty (30) years beginning on the date of installation of either Du r o c k cement board
product in the building.
What is not covered? 1. Installation practices not in accordance with United States Gypsum Companys current published recommendations,
ANSI Specifications or Tile Council of North America’s recommendations.
2. Damage due to structural movement of the building or failure of the structural material to which either Du r o c k
cement board product is attached.
3. Damage arising from acts of God, such as earthquakes, storms, floods, etc.
4. Mishandling, misuse, improper storage or improper application.
5. Failure of the owner to maintain the building with reasonable care.
6. Installation of Du r o c k cement board over wood studs that are twisted or bowed.
This warranty does not cover defects resulting from the use of other manufacturers’ products unless these
products are specifically recommended or approved in writing by United States Gypsum Company in connection
with the use of either Du r o c k cement board product. Consequential and incidental damages are not recoverable
under this warranty. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages,
so the above exclusion or limitation may not apply.
What will United States Gypsum United States Gypsum Company will, at its option, replace the affected goods or refund the purchase price.

How do I get service? Within thirty (30) days of the time you discover any problems with either Du r o c k cement board product, please
write to us including a brief description of the problem and photographs if available. Please also include any sales
receipt, invoice or other evidence indicating the date of original installation. Please send this to United States

How does state law apply? This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
