Before operation Unpacking 1 2 3 Unpacking the subwoofer 1. Unpack the subwoofer on a clean, even and soft area; floor carpeting is very suitable. 2. The packaging should be opened from the top. Remove all accessories that come packed with the subwoofer (such as AC power cord and grille). Do not remove the top part of the protective material. 3. With the protective material still in place but with accessories removed, carefully tilt the packaging on its side and tilt again to turn it upside-down.
Before operation Controls and connections ➊ POWER ON/OFF Main power switch (to switch the subwoofer manually on and off). LED shows operation mode: • red = subwoofer switched on and in mute mode • green = subwoofer is activated ➊ ➋ AC IN Mains power input. ➌ Gain Subwoofer volume level. ➋ ➍ SUB Lowpass Subwoofer lowpass frequency: continuously variable from 50 to 150 Hz. ➎ Phase Phase setting: phase can be set to 0° or 180°. ➌ ➐ ➍ ➎ ➏ Mode Subwoofer operation mode LFE or Slave.
Before operation Connecting the subwoofer CAUTION DAMAGE OF DEVICE DUE TO IMPROPER CONNECTION! X Set the mains power switch to OFF before connecting the BM9S. X Only switch the subwoofer on (mains power switch to ON) after all connections and set up steps have been properly completed. LFE/Slave IN SAT/SUB IN Subwoofer inputs The BM9S provides two different signal inputs: + SUB Lowpass Mode LFE SAT Highpass + Slave SAT/SUB IN This input allows the connection of a full bandwidth signal.
Before operation Connecting a single subwoofer ➊ Connecting as LFE channel ➊ X Connect subwoofer to LFE/Slave input. LFE ➋ Connecting as subwoofer for satellites X Connect full bandwidth signal to SAT/SUB input. Sub reproduces sum of right and left signal. ➋ X Set the Mode switch to LFE. Stereo Note: • You can also use both connection types. The signals will be combined in the BM9S and routed accordingly.
Operation Connecting loudspeakers LFE If your source provides bass management, you can use the BM9S LFE input alone in LFE or SLAVE mode, depending on the management system capabilities. Avoid double processing if possible. Connecting speakers 1. Connect the subwoofer as explained in “Connecting a single subwoofer” on page 7. 2. From the Subwoofer SAT/SUB OUT connect a XLR cable to the inputs of the power amplifier you use for your speakers.
Operation Adjusting the volume (Gain) CAUTION HIGH SOUND LEVELS! X To avoid auditory defects do not listen to high sound levels over a longer period of time. The correct volume setting is an important aspect in achieving a well balanced speaker combination. X Adjust the Gain control, until correct setting is reached. Note: • You cannot adjust the volume, when subwoofer is in slave mode. In this case the volume is controlled by the setting of the master subwoofer.
Operation Setting the phase (Phase) Level Combined frequency response Subwoofer Main speakers Frequency With the phase settings you can adjust the phase relationship between the subwoofer and main speakers. If either subwoofer or main speaker are slightly out of phase in relation to the other, it can result in decreased bass output in the frequency response area where they overlap each other.
Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Troubleshooting There may be various reasons why the subwoofer doesn’t function properly in a system without it being faulty. The checklist below will help solve problems you may encounter. Before consulting your Dynaudio Acoustics dealer, check this list first. Check this first: X Check if all signal cables are connected properly. X Check settings in bass management menu of the connected source. X Carefully and gradually increase the subwoofer volume level on the source.

The fuse is placed on the rear of the subwoofer below the mains power input. It can be changed without removing the amplifier module. Changing the fuse 1. Technical Information/Warranty Warranty Dynaudio Acoustics provides a transferable one-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. This warranty only covers faults or defects in material and production. Damage caused as a result of abuse, misuse or defective associated electronics is not covered by the warranty. All warranty claims must be accompanied by a copy of the original purchase invoice and warranties are only valid in the country or market of original origin and distribution.

Er wurde konzipiert für den Einsatz in Audio-Video-Anlagen im Heimbereich und darf auch nur dort betrieben werden. LED zeigt den Betriebszustand: • rot = Subwoofer ist eingeschaltet und im Ruhezustand • grün = Subwoofer ist im Betriebszustand ➊ ➋ AC IN Netzanschluss. ➌ Gain Lautstärkeregler des Subwoofers. ➋ ➍ SUB Lowpass Subwoofer-Tiefpass-Einstellung. Stufenlos zwischen 50 und 150 Hz einstellbar. ➎ Phase Phaseneinstellung: ermöglicht das Drehen der Phase um 180 Grad.
Vor dem Betrieb Subwoofer anschließen VORSICHT BESCHÄDIGUNG DES GERÄTES DURCH ANSCHLUSSFEHLER! X Stellen Sie den Netzschalter auf OFF, bevor Sie den Subwoofer anschließen. X Schalten Sie den Subwoofer erst ein (Netzschalter auf ON), wenn Sie alle Verbindungen und Einstellungen vorgenommen haben.
Vor dem Betrieb Einen einzelnen Subwoofer anschließen ➊ Subwoofer als LFE-Kanal anschließen ➊ X Verbinden Sie den LFE-Kanal mit LFE/Slave des Subwoofers. LFE ➋ Subwoofer für Satelliten anschließen X Verbinden Sie das Stereo-Ausgangssignal mit SAT/SUB des Subwoofers. Der Subwoofer gibt das Summensignal aus rechtem und linkem Kanal wieder. X Stellen Sie den Mode-Schalter auf LFE. ➋ Stereo Hinweis: • Sie können auch beide Anschlussarten verwenden.
Bedienung Lautsprecher anschließen LFE Stereo Verfügt Ihre Signalquelle über ein Bassmanagement, so können Sie in Abhängigkeit von den Möglichkeiten des Managementsystems ausschließlich den LFE-Eingang des BM9S im LFE- oder Slave-Mode verwenden. Vermeiden Sie unbedingt die doppelte Verarbeitung des Signals. Lautsprecher anschließen 1. Verbinden sie den Subwoofer, wie im Kapitel „Einen einzelnen Subwoofer anschließen” auf Seite 20 beschrieben. 2.
Bedienung Lautstärke einstellen (Gain) VORSICHT SCHÄDIGUNG DES GEHÖRS DURCH ZU HOHE SCHALLPEGEL! X Um eine Schädigung des Gehörs zu vermeiden, hören Sie nicht über einen längeren Zeitraum mit einem hohen Schallpegel. Die richtige Lautstärke ist ein sehr wichtiger Aspekt einer ausgewogenen, ideal auf einander abgestimmten Lautsprecherkombination. Lauter/leiser stellen X Drehen Sie am Regler Gain, bis die gewünschte Lautstärke erreicht ist. Hinweis: • Im Slave-Modus ist die Lautstärkeregelung nicht möglich.
Bedienung Phase einstellen (Phase) Pegel Kombinierter Frequenzgang Subwoofer Hauptlautsprecher Frequenz Mit der Einstellung der Phase können Sie das Zeitverhalten zwischen dem Subwoofer und den Hauptlautsprechern justieren. Falls der Subwoofer oder die Frontlautsprecher in Relation zueinander verzögert spielen, führt das zu einem abgeschwächten Ausgangspegel in dem Frequenzbereich, in dem sich beide Systeme überschneiden.
Fehlersuche Fehlersuche Fehlersuche Es kann verschiedene Gründe geben, warum der Subwoofer in Ihrem System nicht einwandfrei spielt, ohne dass ein technischer Defekt vorliegt. Die Check-Liste im folgenden soll helfen, auftauchende Probleme zu beheben. Bevor Sie sich also auf den Weg zu Ihrem Dynaudio Acoustics Fachhändler machen, vergleichen Sie bitte zuerst die möglichen Fehlerquellen anhand der Tabelle.

X Zur Vermeidung von Feuergefahr ersetzten Sie eine defekte Sicherung nur durch den gleichen Typ. Die Sicherung befindet sich auf der Subwoofer-Rückseite, unter der Netzbuchse. Schäden, die durch unsachgemäßen Betrieb oder defekte Verstärker entstanden sind, werden von der Garantie nicht abgedeckt. Als Nachweis für den Garantieanspruch gilt der Kaufbeleg. Die Abwicklung von Reklamationen erfolgt in der Regel über einen autorisierten Dynaudio AcousticsFachhändler.
