1. Assemble the mount per the instructions provided by the
manufacturer.
2. Attach the motor as shown above to the mount using four 4mm
screws (these are included with the Hangar 9 EP Motor Mount).
The motor can also be mounted inside the electric mount if
necessary.
3. Attach the electric mount with motor to the firewall using
hardware provided with the electric mount.

Outrunner Motor. The Power 160 is designed to deliver clean and
quiet power equivalent to or surpassing the power of a 160-size
2-stroke glow engine for sport and scale airplanes weighing 12- to
20-pounds (5.4- to 9-Kg), 3D airplanes up to 15-pounds (6.8-Kg),
or models requiring up to 2700 watts of power. It provides excellent
power for the popular 27% scale aerobatic models such as the
Hangar 9
®
Extra 260 aircraft, scale performance for the Hangar 9
P-47D Thunderbolt 150 ARF aircraft, and extreme performance for
models like the Hangar 9 Ultra Stick™ Lite aircraft.

NOTICE: The Maximum Operating Temperature is 220°F (104°C).
Adequate cooling is required for all motor operation at maximum
current levels. Maximum Burst Current duration is 15 seconds.
Adequate time between maximum burst intervals is required for
proper cooling and to avoid overheating the motor. Maximum
Burst Current rating is for 3D and limited motor run flights. Lack
of proper throttle management may result in damage to the motor
since excessive use of burst current may overheat the motor.
Battery Choices

batteries for the Power 160 Brushless
Outrunner Motor, depending on the airplane application. Battery
technology is constantly changing and manufacturers are improving
and updating older packs with new ones. Please refer to your

Operating Instructions
1. This brushless motor requires a sensorless brushless speed
control (electronic speed control or ESC). Failure to use the
correct ESC may result in damage to the motor and/or speed
control. Refer to your ESC instructions for correct operation with
this motor and a propeller.
2. Where needed, always attach motor with short screws that do
not enter and damage the motor. Use screws and other hardware
included with your motor.
3. Where needed, install included 3 bullet connectors (EFLA249)
on the output wires of your ESC using solder and heat shrink
insulation (to prevent short circuiting). The 3 motor wires can be
connected in any order to the 3 ESC output wires or output port
on an ESC.
4. Make sure the motor turns in the correct direction for your model.
Change the direction the motor turns by changing the connection
of any 2 motor wires on the ESC.
5. Install a propeller on the motor shaft after you ensure the motor
turns in the proper direction.
6. Make sure the motor is mounted on the model to ensure good
air circulation during operation. The motor generates heat when
operated at maximum power. The user is responsible to make
sure the motor does not overheat. Overheating the motor is not
covered under any warranty.
7. Never cut or otherwise change the length or size of motor wires.
Remove connectors by heating and removing solder.
NOTICE: Any modification of the motor that is not approved by
Horizon, including changing the motor wires, may damage the
motor. It will also void the warranty and result in refusal of service
by Horizon.
CAUTION: When the motor is connected to power, use
extreme caution or injury and damage can result. Motors turn
propellers at dangerously high RPM (revolutions per minute) so
stay clear of the motor and propeller during operation.
Changing Shaft Orientation
1. Loosen the setscrew on the shaft collar and remove the collar
from the shaft.
2. Loosen the two setscrews on the rotating end of the motor.
3. Push the shaft through the motor. A small hammer is required to
lightly tap the shaft.
CAUTION: DO NOT bend or damage the motor shaft as
injury or property damage may result.
4. Install the shaft collar against the bearing using the setscrew.
5. Tighten both setscrews on the rotating end of the motor. Tighten
one setscrew against the flat face on the motor shaft.
NOTICE: At final assembly, apply a small amount of threadlock
(example A shown in illustration) to setscrews to keep these
fasteners from becoming loose. DO NOT use a large amount of
threadlock as this can result in damage to the motor.
Installation
Photo A shows typical installation of motor and x-mount directly
to the outside of the firewall. There are other options available
including mounting the motor inside the fuselage or extending the
motor further forward using aftermarket mount extensions when
using cowls.
1. You can first trial fit the aluminum x-mount against the front of
the firewall and use a felt tip pen to mark the locations of four
holes and drill appropriate size hole to fit the blind nuts provided.
Always be sure to maintain the proper thrust line and account for
adequate prop/spinner clearance.
2. Attach aluminum x-mount to the outrunner motor using the four
flat head (countersunk) screws provided with the motor.
3. Install four blind nuts on the inside of the firewall.
4. Attached the aluminum x-mount and motor to the outside of the
firewall using the four socket head bolts and washers.

Standoffs for Gas
Engines (part numbers listed above). These standoffs work great
for this application and are available in different sizes from 7mm up
to 50mm in length. You can combine them to fit your exact needs.
You will need to purchase socket head bolts to fit the customized
standoffs lengths. Nylon motor standoffs (spacers) can also be used.
1. Attach aluminum x-mount to the outrunner motor using the four
flat head (countersunk) screws provided with the motor.
2. Trial fit the cowl find the standoff length that will allow for proper
clearance of your propeller once the cowl is installed.
3. Insert appropriately sized bolts and washers (purchased
separately) into the four outside holes on the x-mount then
directly into the Evolution standoffs, or through the standoffs
and then into to blind nuts in the firewall if using hollow motor
standoffs/spacers.

Bedienungsanleitung
1. Dieser brushless Motor erfordert eine sensorlose, brushless
Drehzahlregelung (elektronische Drehzahlregelung; ESC =
Electronic Speed Control). Bei Verwendung einer inkorrekten
ESC kann der Motor und/oder die Drehzahlregelung beschädigt
werden. Hinweise zum korrekten Betrieb dieses Motors und
eines Propellers finden Sie in der ESC-Anleitung.
2. Montieren Sie den Motor nach Bedarf immer mit kurzen
Schrauben, die nicht in den Motor eindringen und diesen
beschädigen. Verwenden Sie die mit dem Motor mitgelieferten
Schrauben und anderen Befestigungsteile.
3. Falls erforderlich, installieren Sie die 3 mitgelieferten
Rundsteckverbinder (EFLA249) mit Lötzinn und
Wärmeschrumpfisolierung auf den ESC-Ausgangskabeln (um
Kurzschlüsse zu vermeiden). Die 3 Motorkabel können in
beliebiger Reihenfolge an den 3 ESC-Ausgangskabeln oder dem
Ausgangsanschluss einer ESC angeschlossen werden.
4. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass sich der Motor in die richtige
Richtung für Ihr Modell dreht. Ändern Sie die Richtung der
Motordrehung, indem Sie den Anschluss von 2 beliebigen
Motorkabeln an der ESC ändern.
5. Montieren Sie den Propeller erst dann auf der Motorwelle, wenn
Sie sich über die richtige Drehrichtung vergewissert haben.
6. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Motor so auf dem Modell montiert ist,
dass eine gute Luftzirkulation während des Betriebs gewährleistet
ist. Der Motor erzeugt Wärme, wenn er mit maximaler Leistung
betrieben wird. Der Benutzer ist dafür verantwortlich, dass der
Motor nicht überhitzt. Eine Überhitzung des Motors wird unter
keiner Garantie abgedeckt.
7. Die Länge oder Größe der Motorkabel darf niemals beschnitten
oder anderweitig verändert werden. Entfernen Sie die
Rundsteckverbinder durch Erwärmen und Entfernen des Lötzinns.
HINWEIS: Jede von Horizon nicht genehmigte Änderung des
Motors, inklusive wechsel der Anschlußkabel kann diesen
beschädigen. Damit wird die Garantie unwirksam und Horizon
Hobby lehnt den Service für diese Produkte ab.
ACHTUNG: Wenn der Motor an die Stromversorgung
angeschlossen ist, besonders vorsichtig sein, um Verletzungen und
Schäden zu vermeiden. Motoren drehen Propeller mit gefährlich
hoher Drehzahl; halten Sie daher während des Betriebs Abstand
von Motor und Propeller.
Ändern der Wellenausrichtung
1. Die Stellschraube am Wellenring lösen und den Ring von der
Welle abziehen.
2. Die beiden Stellschrauben an der sich drehenden Seite des
Motors lockern.
3. Die Welle durch den Motor drücken. Mit einem kleinen Hammer
leicht auf die Welle klopfen.
ACHTUNG: Die Motorwelle NICHT verbiegen oder beschädigen,
um mögliche Verletzungen oder Sachschäden zu vermeiden.
4. Den Wellenring gegen das Lager schieben und mit der
Stellschraube sichern.
5. Die beiden Stellschrauben an der sich drehenden Seite des
Motors festziehen. Eine Stellschraube an der flachen Seite der
Motorwelle festziehen.
HINWEIS: Beim endgültigen Zusammenbau ein wenig
Gewindesicherungsmittel blau (Beispiel A in der Abbildung) auf die
Stellschrauben auftragen, damit sich diese nicht lösen können.
KEINE große Menge Gewindesicherungsmittel verwenden, da dies
zu Schäden am Motor führen kann.
Einbau
Foto A zeigt die typische Installation von Motor und x-Halterung
direkt an der Außenseite der Firewall Es gibt andere
Installationsoptionen, darunter der Einbau in den Rumpf des
Flugzeugs oder die Verlagerung des Motors weiter nach vorne unter
Verwendung von Nachrüst-Befestigungserweiterungen, wenn eine
Motorabdeckung verwendet wird.
1. Sie können zunächst versuchen, die x-Halterung aus Aluminium
an der Vorderseite der Firewall zu befestigen. Markieren Sie
die vier Löcher mit einem Filzstift und bohren Sie Löcher in
der richtigen Größe für die mitgelieferten Blindmuttern. Achten
Sie auf die Einhaltung einer angemessenen Schubachse und
ausreichend Abstand zum Propellor/Spinner.
2. Bringen Sie die x-Halterung aus Aluminium mit Hilfe der mit dem
Motor gelieferten vier Flachkopfschrauben (gesenkt) an.
3. Bringen Sie vier Blindmuttern an der Innenseite der Firewall an.

What this Warranty Covers
Horizon Hobby, Inc., (Horizon) warrants to the original purchaser that the
product purchased (the „Product“) will be free from defects in materials
and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase.
What is Not Covered
This warranty is not transferable and does not cover (i) cosmetic
damage, (ii) damage due to acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse,
negligence, commercial use, or due to improper use, installation,
operation or maintenance, (iii) modification of or to any part of the
Product, (iv) attempted service by anyone other than a Horizon
Hobby authorized service center, (v) Product not purchased from
an authorized Horizon dealer, or (vi) Product not compliant with
applicable technical regulations.
OTHER THAN THE EXPRESS WARRANTY ABOVE, HORIZON
MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION, AND
HEREBY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES,
INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES
OF NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR
A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE PURCHASER ACKNOWLEDGES
THAT THEY ALONE HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE PRODUCT WILL
SUITABLY MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE PURCHASER’S
INTENDED USE.
Purchaser’s Remedy
Horizon’s sole obligation and purchaser’s sole and exclusive remedy
shall be that Horizon will, at its option, either (i) service, or (ii)
replace, any Product determined by Horizon to be defective. Horizon
reserves the right to inspect any and all Product(s) involved in a
warranty claim. Service or replacement decisions are at the sole
discretion of Horizon. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty
claims. SERVICE OR REPLACEMENT AS PROVIDED UNDER THIS
WARRANTY IS THE PURCHASER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY.

HORIZON SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR SPECIAL, INDIRECT,

liability of Horizon exceed the individual price of the Product on
which liability is asserted. As Horizon has no control over use, setup,
final assembly, modification or misuse, no liability shall be assumed
nor accepted for any resulting damage or injury. By the act of use,
setup or assembly, the user accepts all resulting liability. If you
as the purchaser or user are not prepared to accept the liability
associated with the use of the Product, purchaser is advised to
return the Product immediately in new and unused condition to the
place of purchase.
Law
These terms are governed by Illinois law (without regard to conflict
of law principals). This warranty gives you specific legal rights,
and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
Horizon reserves the right to change or modify this warranty at any
time without notice.
WARRANTY SERVICES
Questions, Assistance, and Services
Your local hobby store and/or place of purchase cannot provide
warranty support or service. Once assembly, setup or use of the
Product has been started, you must contact your local distributor
or Horizon directly. This will enable Horizon to better answer your
questions and service you in the event that you may need any
assistance. For questions or assistance, please visit our website
at www.horizonhobby.com, submit a Product Support Inquiry,
or call 877.504.0233 toll free to speak to a Product Support
representative.
Inspection or Services
If this Product needs to be inspected or serviced and is compliant
in the country you live and use the Product in, please use the
Horizon Online Service Request submission process found on our
website or call Horizon to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization
(RMA) number. Pack the Product securely using a shipping carton.
Please note that original boxes may be included, but are not
designed to withstand the rigors of shipping without additional
protection. Ship via a carrier that provides tracking and insurance
for lost or damaged parcels, as Horizon is not responsible for
merchandise until it arrives and is accepted at our facility. An Online
Service Request is available at http://www.horizonhobby.com/
content/_service-center_render-service-center. If you do not have
internet access, please contact Horizon Product Support to obtain
a RMA number along with instructions for submitting your product
for service. When calling Horizon, you will be asked to provide your
complete name, street address, email address and phone number
where you can be reached during business hours. When sending
product into Horizon, please include your RMA number, a list of the
included items, and a brief summary of the problem. A copy of your
original sales receipt must be included for warranty consideration.
Be sure your name, address, and RMA number are clearly written on
the outside of the shipping carton.
NOTICE: Do not ship LiPo batteries to Horizon. If you
have any issue with a LiPo battery, please contact the
appropriate Horizon Product Support office.
Warranty Requirements
For Warranty consideration, you must include your original sales
receipt verifying the proof-of-purchase date. Provided warranty
conditions have been met, your Product will be serviced or replaced
free of charge. Service or replacement decisions are at the sole
discretion of Horizon.
Non-Warranty Service
Should your service not be covered by warranty, service
will be completed and payment will be required without
notification or estimate of the expense unless the expense
exceeds 50% of the retail purchase cost. By submitting the
item for service you are agreeing to payment of the service without
notification. Service estimates are available upon request. You must
include this request with your item submitted for service. Non-
warranty service estimates will be billed a minimum of ½ hour of
labor. In addition you will be billed for return freight. Horizon accepts
money orders and cashier’s checks, as well as Visa, MasterCard,
American Express, and Discover cards. By submitting any item
to Horizon for service, you are agreeing to Horizon’s Terms and
Conditions found on our website http://www.horizonhobby.com/
content/_service-center_render-service-center.
ATTENTION: Horizon service is limited to Product compliant
in the country of use and ownership. If received, a non-
compliant Product will not be serviced. Further, the sender
will be responsible for arranging return shipment of the
un-serviced Product, through a carrier of the sender’s
choice and at the sender’s expense. Horizon will hold non-
compliant Product for a period of 60 days from notification,
after which it will be discarded.

Standoffs für
Benzinmotoren (Teilenummern oben). Diese Standoffs
(Abstandhalter) eignen sich ideal für diese Anwendung und sind
in verschiedenen Größen mit einer Länge von 7 mm bis 50 mm
erhältlich. Sie können kombiniert und genau auf Ihre Anforderungen
angepasst werden. Sie müssen Innensechskantschrauben für die
angepassten Abstandhalter kaufen. Motor-Abstandhalter aus Nylon
können auch verwendet werden.
1. Bringen Sie die x-Halterung aus Aluminium mit Hilfe der mit dem
Motor gelieferten vier Flachkopfschrauben (gesenkt) an.
2. Ermitteln Sie die richtige Abstandhalterlänge für die Motorhaube,
damit ausreichend Abstand zum Propeller besteht, wenn Sie die
Haube aufgesetzt haben.
3. Setzen Sie entsprechend dimensionierte Schrauben und
Unterlegscheiben (separate erhältlich) in die vier Außenlöcher der
Halterung ein und dann die direkt in die Evolution-Abstandhalter
oder durch die Abstandhalter und dann in die Blindmuttern in der
Firewall, wenn sie hohle Motor-Abstandhalter verwenden.

EP-Halterung mit
Hardware (HAN4245).
1. Bauen Sie die Halterung gemäß der Herstelleranleitung
zusammen.
2. Bringen Sie den Motor wie oben gezeigt mit 4-mm-Schrauben
(werden mit der Hangar 9 EP-Motorhalterung mitgeliefert) an der
Halterung an. Der Motor kann nach Bedarf auch innerhalb der
elektrischen Halterung montiert werden.
3. Befestigen Sie die elektrische Halterung mit dem Motor an der
Firewall mit der Hardware, die im Lieferumfang der elektrischen
Halterung enthalten ist.
