Outputs Low-battery warning 6 Load on battery power 5 Load on automatic bypass 4 Load protected 3 Battery fault 2 Input B General alarm 1 Input A Characteristics of inputs: Switched voltage: 5 V DC. Loop current: 10 mA.
2. Installation 2.1 Setting the operating mode Standard mode This is the default mode for the card. It is compatible with all UPSs. Check that DIP switches SA1 are set as shown opposite. SA1 8 SA1 SA2 If two relay cards are installed in the same UPS, see section 2.3. ON OFF 1 Programmable mode This operating mode is specific to certain UPSs. Check the user manual of your UPS to see if the electrical relay contact function is possible. SA1 Set DIP switches SA1 as shown opposite.
2. Installation Load-shedding mode This mode is compatible with all UPSs. Set DIP switches SA1 as shown opposite. If two relay cards are installed in the same UPS, see section 2.3. SA1 8 SA1 2 SA2 ON OFF 1 2.2 Setting the relay contacts and the inputs By default, all the relay contacts are Normally Open (NO) (see section 1.4): ◗ Contact open = relay not controlled. ◗ Contact closed = relay controlled.
2. Installation 2.3 Installing a second card A maximum of two relay cards may be installed in a UPS. In this case, the second card must have a different DIP-switch setting. DIP switch 1 on block SA1 must be set to ON. SA1 8 SA1 SA2 ON OFF 1 2.4 Connection Prior to any action, de-energise all the power sources that will be connected to the card. Do not mix SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) and non-SELV circuits on the relays of a card.
2. Installation 1 - Remove the cover 3 (for installation in a Galaxy PW UPS, use the special cover). 2 - Using a screwdriver, hit and clear out the knock-outs blocking the holes for cable entry. 3 - Run the cables through the holes 4 . 4. Connect the wires to the input 8 and output 6 terminal blocks.
2. Installation 1 - Put the cover back in place and secure it using the screws 1 . 2 - Clamp the cables using the screws 9 . 3 - Note on the labels the locations of the power sources.
2. Installation 2.5 Inserting the card In a UPS It is not necessary to shut down the UPS. 1 - Unscrew and remove the cover plate on a free slot in the UPS. 2 - Insert the card and secure it using the screws. COM In a MultiSlot module UPS MultiSlot U-Talk Relay card Page 16 - 51029397EN/AB 1 - Unscrew and remove the cover plate on a free slot in the MultiSlot module. 2 - Insert the card and secure it using the screws.
3. Operation Connection example: UPS ~/= Energise the power sources connected to the card and check the indications circuit. General alarm ~/= Load on battery power The green LED on the relay card operates in the following manner: ◗ during the start-up phase, it flashes regularly every second; ◗ during initialisation of communication with the UPS or the MultiSlot module, it flashes rapidly; ◗ subsequently, it flashes when data is exchanged with the UPS or the MultiSlot module.
4. Troubleshooting If the green LED on the relay card stays off: ◗ Check that the card is correctly inserted in the slot and that the cover is correctly screwed back on. ◗ Check that the UPS or the MultiSlot module is energised. ◗ Remove the card and insert it again. The green LED on the relay card remains ON continuously: ◗ Remove the card and insert it again. A false alarm occurs: ◗ Check that the NO/NC settings are correct for your installation (SA2 DIP switches, section 2.2).
