Installation and User Guide
The ECS-FPAE foot pedal works with the FREE & PAID versions of Express Scribe for Windows & for MAC.
1. Start Express Scribe
2. If using Windows: Select [Options] from
the toolbar and click on [System-Wide Hot-
Keys...]. In the window that appears select
[Enable system-wide hot-keys].
If using macOS: Select [Preferences] from
the toolbar and click on [System-Wide Hot-
Keys...]. In the window that appears, select
[Enable system-wide hot-keys].
3. Check the below pictures to see if the correct hotkeys are set. If they do not match, select [Set
defaults...] in the bottom right corner. If additional changes are necessary, highlight the command
and select [Change…])
Once you make adjustments, you don’t have to change them again.
Important Note: Please do not run foot pedal wizard. This pedal is plug and play. It emulates key
strokes and it already pre-programmed.
Windows: macOS:
Troubleshooting: Foot pedal not functioning properly?
Make sure the USB plug is properly plugged into the USB port on the computer.
Verify that there are no system updates required, or restarts pending.
If the pedal does not respond after a few minutes, attempt plugging the device into a different
USB port on the computer.
If the computer does not recognize the foot pedal, restart your system or reinstall the USB driver
by unplugging and re-plugging in the USB foot pedal.
If you are using a USB hub or USB extender, try plugging directly into a USB port on your computer
If you are using a desktop, try plugging into a USB port on the back of your computer
If you are experiencing any problems, please contact us prior to returning the product.
