Environmental Effects
The temp scanner measures the temperature of the surrounding environment. For this
measurement to be accurate, it needs to have become acclimated to the temperature of the room
in which it is to be used.
CAUTION
Allow the temp scanner to acclimate for at least 30 minutes before use if it is taken from a
cold room into a hot room, or vice versa. Avoid holding the temp scanner by the probe as
it will mistake the temperature of hand for that of the room.
Movement
If the patient is agitated, or squirms away before completing the measurement, just keep the
button depressed and continue the measurement without having to wait.
Temperature Measurement
Follow this procedure to take a temperature:
1. Remove temp scanner from cradle
Gently tilt the temp scanner up from the bottom of the cradle.
Lift the temp scanner‘s probe over the cradle‘s fingers (probe).
2. Slide across forehead
Place probe on center of forehead and depress ON button.
Keeping ON button depressed, slowly slide probe mid-line across forehead to the hair
line.
3. Slide behind ear (Only applicable to adult)
Keeping ON button depressed, lift probe from forehead, touch behind ear halfway down
the mastoid process and slide down to the soft depression behind the earlobe.
