INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

PLEASE study these instructions carefully before beginning this installation. Most installations can be accomplished with common tools and
procedures. However, you should be familiar with and comfortable working on your vehicle. If you do not feel comfortable performing this
installation, it is recommended to have the installation completed by a qualified mechanic. If you have any questions, please call our Technical

IMPORTANT NOTE: Proper installation is the responsibility of the installer. Improper installation will
void your warranty and may result in poor performance and engine or vehicle damage.
KIT CONTENT:
2 - Valve Cover 2 - Breather Grommet
2 - Baffle Plate 4 - #8 Screw
DESCRIPTION: Edelbrock offers several valve covers for several engine models. See the catalog for
application listing. Installation is the same as original equipment valve covers. All valve covers require that
baffles be installed. Check for clearance between baffles and rocker arms. Trim baffles slightly if necessary.
Edelbrock valve cover gaskets are recommended to ensure a tight seal and perfect fit. Refer to the
table on the right for the recommended gasket part number for your application.
INSTALLATION NOTES FOR ALUMINUM VALVE COVERS:
• Attachthebafflesusingthesuppliedscrewsandblueorredthreadlocker(threadlockernotincluded).
(See Fig. 1).

Make sure to use thread locker or silicon on the threads of the
screws to prevent the screws from coming loose over time.

• Small Block Chevrolet: 1986 and earlier Small block Chevrolet engines with EGR may require #1476 and/or GM #14031368 spacers to
provide clearance for the EGR valve, especially with “tall profile” valve covers. Tall covers will not clear mid-70’s style manifold mounted air
conditioning brackets.
NOTE: Remember to always check Rocker Arm clearance before fully installing the Valve Covers. A good way to verify clearance is to install
the covers without bolts, then slide them until they make contact. Verify the clearance by checking the offset of valve cover bolt holes with
the head holes. A minimum of 0.060” of clearance is sufficient.
• Big Block Chevrolet: Please make sure baffle plate is oriented properly before installing the baffle screws (Fig 2).

• Small Block Ford: Elite II and Racing Series valve covers are designed to be installed using a short socket and extension on the upper row
of bolts. 1/4” drive tools will provide the most clearance.
