MVR for IPv4
This section describes commands used to configure Multicast VLAN Registration for
IPv4 (MVR). A single network-wide VLAN can be used to transmit multicast traffic
(such as television channels) across a service provider’s network. Any multicast
traffic entering an MVR VLAN is sent to all subscribers. This can significantly reduce
to processing overhead required to dynamically monitor and establish the
distribution tree for a normal multicast VLAN. Also note that MVR maintains the
user isolation and data security provided by VLAN segregation by passing only
multicast traffic into other VLANs to which the subscribers belong.
