This manual contains important information regarding the proper installation, use, and maintenance of your portable air conditioner.

Installing the Carbon Filter Your portable air conditioner ships with a pre-filter and an activated carbon filter. The carbon filter will help remove contaminates and odors from the air. It is recommended that you replace the carbon filter every three to six months, or as needed. It is necessary to clean the pre-filter periodically. Follow the steps below to install the carbon filter. 1. Open the pre-filter panel on the back of the unit.
Window Kit Installation Instructions Window Kit Parts list: 1. Adjust the plastic slider kit to the width or height of your window and tighten the two (2) screws that are attached to the panel. 2. Push the round window adapter through the rear of the plastic slider. Line up the holes and tighten the adapter with four (4) of the included screws. Tighten the screws from the front. 3. Install the plastic window slider kit into the window. If necessary, use duct tape to secure the panel more tightly. 4.
Note: This unit can be used with one or two vent hoses. The exhaust hose should always be used in cooling and heating (HS model) mode. The air intake hose can be used to increase the cooling efficiency of the unit. If the air intake hose is not used, simply cover one of the grated adapters on the window kit with a vent cap. Installing the Grated Adapter 1. Insert the round grated adapter through the back grooved side of the window kit plate and into the hole.
2. Secure the grated adapter by fastening the screws from the flat side of the window kit plate to the holes on the grated adapter. Installing the Window Plates 3. Open your window and place the window kit on the window sill with the grooved side facing outward. Then slide the window kit plate out to fit the width of the window. You can use screws to secure the window kit plate and keep it from sliding.
4. Lower the window to secure the window kit in place. You may need to use duct tape to better secure the window kit. Caution: Secure your window with window locks. Please contact your EdgeStar retailer to purchase window locks. Attaching the Duct Connectors to the Exhaust Hose 5. Attach the connectors to the hose: a. Extend the ends of the exhaust hose. b. Thread the duct connector onto the exhaust hose by turning it clockwise until it stops.
6. Roll the unit towards the window kit. Leave at least 20 inches between the unit and the wall. Connecting the Duct Connector to the Unit 7. Align the slots on the duct connector to the tabs on the unit and snap the duct connector into the back of the unit. Connecting the Duct Connector to the Grated Adapter 8. Align the slots on the duct connector to the tabs on the grated adapter and snap the duct connector into place.
After you have installed the exhaust hose and the window kit, you can plug in your portable air conditioner and start using it. Notes About the Exhaust Hose Your portable air conditioner is designed to exhaust condensate water that is collected from the air. This water, in either gaseous or droplet form, will be expelled out of the exhaust port of the unit. Please take this into account when deciding how to vent the air conditioner. 1.
Control Panel : Set Temperature Display : Timer with Auto On/Off Switch Display : Sleep Pattern Display Power Control The power button turns the unit on or off. Warning Light Condensed water may accumulate in the unit. The Warning light will turn on to indicate that the internal tank is full. The unit will not continue operation until the tank has been drained. Mode Control Press the mode button to cycle between four different modes: Cool, Dehumidify, Fan, and Heating.
Dehumidify Mode In dehumidify mode, air is dehumidified as it passes through the unit, while some cooling continues to occur. If the room temperature is higher than 77°F, the fan speed can be adjusted. Otherwise the fan speed will be maintained at “Low.” Note: The warm air exchange hoses must vent inside the room when using Dehumidify Mode, not outside as they do when cooling. If the unit is vented outside some cooling will occur.
Remote Control Overview Note: Batteries are not included. The remote control has the same functions as the touch control panel. All key functions can be accessed from the remote control or from the control panel on the unit. Button Power Speed Timer Function This button powers the unit on and off. This button allows you to choose between High, Medium, and Low fan speed. This button allows you to set the unit to automatically turn on or off at a Mode specific time.
Installing the Batteries 1. Remove the cover on the back of the remote control. 2. Insert the batteries with the (+) and (-) ends pointing in the correct directions, as indicated in the image above. 3. Slide the cover back on to the remote. Caution: Use only AAA or IEC R03 1.5V batteries. Remove the batteries if the remote control will not be used for one month or longer. Do not attempt to recharge batteries that are not designed to be recharged. All batteries should be replaced at the same time.
Maintenance Clean the air conditioner and filters regularly to maximize performance and efficiency, and to prolong the unit’s life. Always be sure to unplug the air conditioner from the power outlet before cleaning. Cleaning the Unit Use a soft dry cloth to wipe the body of the air conditioner clean. If necessary, use lukewarm water to dampen a cloth to clean the unit. Use a soft bristle brush to clean between the vents. Carefully use a vacuum cleaner to clean the condenser coils.
Troubleshooting Follow the troubleshooting guide below to resolve common issues. Issue My air conditioner is not functioning at all. My remote control does not work and the indicator light on the remote does not turn on. My air conditioner is making a loud noise. My air conditioner is making a continuous metallic knocking or pinging sound. My air conditioner is leaking. My air conditioner runs for a little while and then it trips the power cord or the circuit breaker.
Issue Possible Cause Solution My air conditioner is not cooling at all. The unit is not operating in cooling mode. Set the unit to run in cooling mode, and lower the set temperature. The compressor may take up to 3 minutes to turn on, or longer if it is too warm. Allow the unit to begin cooling the area before an ambient temperature of 90° F is reached. Remove any obstructions in the exhaust hose and port. The unit must be vented. Minimize the size of the area to be cooled, i.e. adding a drop ceiling.
