III-5-1-1. Disable
When you select “Disable”, wireless encryption for the network is
disabled.
This setting is not recommended: anyone who knows your access
point’s SSID can connect to it.
Enable 802.1x
Authentication
Check this box to enable 802.1x user
authentication. See III-5-1-5. Enable
802.1x Authentication.
III-5-1-2. WEP
WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) is a basic encryption type. For a higher
level of security consider using WPA encryption.
Most wireless devices support WPA encryption, though some
legacy devices only support WEP encyrption. WEP only supports
data rates up to 54Mbps.
Key Length
There are two types of WEP key
length: 64-bit and 128-bit. Using
“128-bit” is safer than “64-bit”, but will
reduce some data transfer
performance.
Key Format
Select a key format: ASCII or Hex. The
key length will also be displayed here -
